Considering it was a DOGSO too, prob would have been a red too, but I don't care. We still won. Ha

If they move to Renton, I'm done with a club that pays lip service and doesn't adhere to their supposed values, not least democracy in sports. I've followed them in Seattle, San Francisco, & France. Was a STH for 10 years.

Truly a boneheaded "business" decision shaped by perception of fans as commodities & an outdated idea that putting something in the suburbs makes it easier to access. ticket prices would go up. Accessibility would go down. Sounders would be spitting in the eyes of those who brought them success.

She was a secret weapon for Council for years. Aly is one of the best people to work at the City. Glad she's getting recognition.

Ah its been long time but I visited the site in like 2021. It felt neighborhood-sized, but maybe my memory is failing me. Buy the Lowes on Rainier then and bring back Sicks Stadium? We can have a lot of fun dreaming in any case.

Isn't WOSCA still empty? Perfect anchor for a new neighborhood right on the waterfront next to Lumen. A Renton move is purely about money but I guarantee a stadium at Longacres will crater this club & lose money. Not to mention alienate disabled & poor people who can't drive.

Seattle's left *needs to organize together* starting right now for 2027. Share volunteers, endorse each other, show up together, canvas each others districts, & create a shared platform. Your organization power beats cynical lazy wealth.

Nelson never passed meaningful legislation & openly admitted to not understanding the budget + was only picked as Council President bc 8 of 9 CMs at the time were center-right. No wonder she teamed up w/ perpetual loser Tanya Woo to create this AstroTurf misinfo org. Their only power is wealth.

I agree. I think we need more organic, sincere opportunities to interact with our government.

I talk to a lot of Nantais(e) disillusioned by local politics & it breaks my heart. Transparency in processes like city/metropolitan budgets is a great place to start reversing that sentiment. This isn't entirely structural (in either city). It's a choice and change is possible.

Devin Silvernail @devinsilvernail.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
It's budget season in Seattle & Nantes. In one city, you know it's happening. In the other? No. In one you can view the process in person or online. In the other, not. In one, you can interact. In the other, nope. In one, you can impact the budget. The other? Not yet. We can & will change that

Is it pure laziness that SDOT doesn't secure them or is it irresponsibility? These can and should be anchored

To be fair I stated that I don't really know her or her politics but did work in SF politics when Scott the Supe was on a crusade against the homeless + poor. His stance was very much neoliberal & I'd be surprised if more power made him more progressive over the last 10 years. Love ya anyway.

Since she pushed back against a project in the Marina, a place massively unaffordable, bc she didn't feel there were enough affordable units = "housing bad?" As a resident of a city w/ a mandate for 30-50% affordability in all projects + a massive housing boom, I just don't get this take.

Devin Silvernail @devinsilvernail.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Bringing cars back to the Great Highway would be dumb, but as a Supe representing the Richmond, I guarantee her stance on housing is more nuanced than "housing bad."

Weiner sucked way before the chatbot. He just showed his hand afte trying to cultivate an image but the dude is an anti-homeless anti-poor neoliberal democrat. Sure, he's "pro-housing" but with no nuance. I was there when Scott was punishing the poor as a Supe. We need to retire that kind of dem.

Seattle can be proud to have some of the most engaged, informed, & empowered renters in the nation. Tenant organizers in Seattle have won a growing list of protetections over the past decade, slowly shifting the power imbalance between renters & the people whose investments they pay for (landlords).

I want to know if the inflated ticket prices actually lead to more revenue. That math doesn't seem to math with all the empty seats. I remember when I lived in Oakland, the A's did like $3 Wednesday game tickets. Sounders are at that point now. Offer tickets at cost. Get more people interested.

I mean if they made tickets more affordable & didn't treat the club as purely an investment vehicle, that would be a start. Restore goodwill, then improve the product on the field. Short-term monetary gains will disappear if things don't change.

Honestly, labeling them as centrists let's them off the hook. Their ideas and actions are center-right. That's right wing. Sometimes the center-right drifts center (I.e. free food for children, or universal affordable housing) but they float right back to the right after.

Literally the point of taxes, you fucking morons. I don't personally use the defense budget. I don't personally attend elementary school. I haven't even used 99% of roads in the city where I grew up. That's how taxes work. Seriously, are the rich just fucking stupid or they think everyone else is?

France should be mad about these wildfires, but this is a global problem. Wildfires like this have been ravaging many parts of the world for decades. It's time for a global solution to climate change instead of a piecemeal nation by nation one. Take your righteous anger and point it toward that goal

Hopefully this is Seattle's wake up call to stop trusting Dan Strauss. Honestly, a Ballard republican would at least be predictable instead of this. Opposing progressivism only to change your mind & take a victory lap is nothing but exhausting for the people affected & it has been his MO for years.

Any time a politician keeps poor people from accessing a universal service bc "rich people will also use it" that's anti-poor classist behavior. That false concern masks a real sentiment thet basic things like food or shelter aren't rights but rather privileges, perpetuated always by the ultra rich

Devin Silvernail @devinsilvernail.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
Means testing is a classic democrat move. Using it as the way to close a door to poor people is perfectly republican. That's your city council, Seattle. No party of the left. No party of the people. All kids deserve free food. It's pretty fucking simple.

Yes but that's also how they keep the parties as a closed system. Joining party and participating meaningfully as an old fart from scratch has been a pain point for me in France. Youth programs are great but parties gotta stay intentional about collaboration for all members.

I remember when we could fill a stadium for matches that didn't even matter. Our last match was a derby and couldn't fill it out. Ticket prices too high? More sports competition than before? Something else turning people off?
