Day 2 of kinship workshop, we moved into richer terrain with two-sex, time-varying models and spent time unpacking a powerful idea : kin loss and bereavement One striking insight: in India, an individual aged 100 in 2020 would have experienced the loss of nearly 45 kin over their lifetime!

Estimated Number of youth who lost a parent due to drug poisoning in the US over the years, by racial characteristics.

Interesting ways of data storing from around the world ! Bangladesh 1981 data wheel in fact had fungus on it that the researchers had to clean it by hiring local help. Matthew Sobek and Sula Sarkar's wonderful session on @ipums.bsky.social at 6th Asian Population Association Conference, Nepal.
