I went and edited the ending because I couldn't deal with the lack of catharsis. Stolas is at peace now and I cried while writing this. We both needed this. If he had to die, at least I can give him an illusion of comfort in the end. I'm still crying.

Sparks danced in the dark as Stolas drifted out of consciousness. In his final moment, he felt tired and he forgot what he had been figfor. The last image that flashed through his brain was of his mother holding him when he was just a down nestling. Then there was just darkness and quiet.

A few minutes later, Striker removed the pillow and confirmed the light had gone out in those crimson eyes. He bared his teeth in a wicked smile. He had finally gotten what he wanted.

I only posted my first in February, so there's only about 5 months in between. What I learned is ok to diverge from canon or even write a completely different AU if it makes for a better story. My AO3 handle is the same as here. If you read my stories, note that about half of them have noncon.
