ROMANTIC MEDIA AND WARTIME NETWORKS, my first monograph, is out today with @stanfordpress.bsky.social. It tells the story of how the state revolutionized its wartime communication networks in the Romantic period and how writers responded to - and resisted - this media revolution.

'His book tour brought him to Cambridgeshire, where he would marry and have two children with Susannah Cullen, an Englishwoman from Ely. They settled in Soham, supported by a local network including abolitionist friends, safe...when reactionary “church and king” mobs were targeting reformers.' 1/3

My colleagues in computer science and I co-authored this article about using LLMs to extract and tag data from c18-19 playbills. Spoiler: ChatGPT is easily confused by genre designations of plays, less so by 'straightforward' info like cast lists. umanisticadigitale.unibo.it/article/view...

I polled my students during today's lecture on which Cockney 'To the Grasshopper and the Cricket' sonnet they prefer. Keats wins by a landslide! (Hunt on the left and K on the right)
