Happy National Book Month! Any book recommendations, sky?

Same. I was hoping to finish next spring. 🤷🏾

It’s nice to know the Big Beautiful Bill is responsible for cutting aid I was already awarded for school. I love it here.

People are weird. Hell… So am I 😂

I also find it quite interesting that many of my Black and brown Christian friends weren’t surprised. They were just waiting for me to tell them, in my own time. ⏰ Gay, queer, pansexual… however I chose to describe myself, they were already praying for me to feel free enough to be me.

Ten years of knowing me, and THAT’S the part they couldn’t handle? 🤷🏾

It still amazes me that people I shared over 10 years of life with went radio silent because I love every crevice and corner of a man.

Fall is moving fast 😛 I’ve got a magazine feature, a private school visit, a live author interview, and a BLK Author Expo ahead. Yasss!!! I’m grateful. Nora and me are still outside. #BlackAuthorSky #IndieAuthor #BaltimoreMD #KidLit #AuthorLife

I often wonder what my unread books be saying when they see my buying more books.

I wrote a poem last night in less than five minutes. And today I sent it to a few outlets. Rattle. The Nation. About Place. Try everything right?

As NeNe said: “I’m good on youuuuuu!” 🎶😂

If accountability has to be coached, cornered, or pulled out of someone’s culo, will it give me the closure I was seeking anyway?

I’m doing nothing because I am not the person who needs to take the next action.

100

Of course I deserve an apology. But I have spent enough time wondering whether I should reach out, explain it again, say you hurt me, or act like it never happened. And I keep coming back to the same answer: do NOTHING.

100

This year, someone I love hurt me deeply and diminished the work I had poured myself into. I have not spoken to them since.

100

I’m a recovering people pleaser. For a long time, I worked hard to make sure EVERYbody else was okay, understood, cared for, and emotionally comfortable. Everybody…… except me.

100

I am very good at reaching people emotionally. But I had to ask myself: if I have to build the entire bridge to an apology, is it really a stable sorry?

I realized I had a habit of creating the perfect opening for someone to apologize. Spelling out the harm, naming the impact, asking the questions that made accountability impossible to avoid.

100

Yeah, you read that correctly: begging.
