also it's something I've always been aware of but like, it's weird working with an object that's supposed to be glass and having it be completely opaque until I slap a shader on it at the very end. those glasses look weird in blender

this isn't particularly impressive to do or anything, but my glasses have actual modeled lenses now!

my tanuki in vrchat facing directly forward. there's some subtle reflection on the lenses of his glasses

with his eyes closed, it's easier to make out what's being reflected: blinds on one lens, and the opposite wall on the other

with the head tilted away, some more obvious reflections from the wall are visible

in a lighter area, it's even easier to see reflections from the surrounding room

apparently unity handles textures imported from blender materials as opaque by default and I can't figure out how to make it not do that oh well. bedtime

on the one hand, the alternative is usually that it just doesn't exist on the other it's annoying! at least a handful of projects I knew had linux in their future just don't anymore. now I have to wait 4 minutes to launch it because my computer is weird and fucked up

proton is wonderful linux magic but I can't help but be a little peeved that games can just kinda release on windows and pretend to be cross platform now, and meanwhile it's kinda on some open source maintainers to fix when there's a bug

1: I finally watched a movie in vr. kinda uncomfortable, but it was cool to simulate a big screen and be able to recline for the whole duration 2: the movie in question was avatar aang. which I have a couple gripes with but was overall a pretty good movie. gorgeously animated too
