What’s your favorite #surrealist #zombie piece of media? Bonus points if it’s not something by #Fulci, because all I’ve experienced is Fulci.

Happy Birthday, H.P. Lovecraft! You want Mythos horror, but your players want D&D? NIGHT SHIFT might be the bridge you need. Can NIGHT SHIFT: Veterans of the Supernatural Wars do Cthulhu? I think so. #ttrpg #horror #lovecraft #cthulhu wastedlandsfantasy.blogspot.com/2026/08/happ...

I re-compiled rules from various #AFMBE books, ARM/WC books, and #ConX 2nd edition core book. There are 70+ Skills, plus all the Skill Types. There are only 18 in #ArmyofDarkness. Which do you prefer? A big list of skills, some medium level (30-40?) or less than 20? Photo copyright mine.

Following the #greatgamingweekend2026 event, I had a few wandering thoughts regarding locked rooms and zombie one-shots that I want to keep in mind for the future. derekas.blogspot.com/2026/08/lock...

#greatgamingweekend2026 #AFMBE Saturday night session went great. 3 new to All Flesh Must Be Eaten players and 3 vets. No PC deaths but plenty of laughs and screaming. They didn’t stop the rise, but they survived the first encounters with the earth mother.

#greatgamingweekend2026 Friday night session of #DeltaGreen went well. My "It Is Not Over" ended with 2 agents immolated, one agent w/one hit point (also from fire), 1 friendly NPC suicided, and 2 agents alive at the end of the session. Zero evidence of #unnatural activity or #hypergeometry .

#greatgamingweekend2026 Friday, ran a session of The Division using their quick start. I created my own scenario, set before the first wave of agents is wiped out. Rules work, but I'm hoping for more robust rules in the final product. I want to do more than just play the video game at the table.

A few of us locals did a thing last year. It was an alternative to attending #GenCon all weekend. This year, we have 3 sessions of games Friday and Saturday and 1 session Sunday morning. This year's attendees can buy shirts with the logo, white text on black shirts, naturally. #greatgamingweekend

It’s that time of year again! No, not Gen Con. Well, yes, Gen Con. But also #RPGaDay2026 which looks to be all about characters. Check out David’s post below for more details.

#TTRPG Setting Books: do you prefer character creation and new rules before the setting material? I prefer #RPG books front loaded with the material used by everyone at the table at the start and the material only used by the #GM at the back. Thoughts? #stopcomingupwithnewprojects

So you’re talking to your pal the other day and they mention GMing a post apoc campaign set after a supernatural war that humanity lost. Do you need to know the exactness of how we lost or is a high level gloss good enough?

New #TTRPG experiment: #AFMBE scenario as the rise happens. The situation is contained. #DeltaGreen agents then investigate what happened during the AFMBE scenario. What happened? Was it contained? What now? Second #AFMBE scenario wherein someone else tries again. Details in August?

Current working on: Outbound Freight is a survival horror investigation scenario for #ThirteenParsecs. The scenario is designed for 3-6 players and takes place aboard two derelict starships. It can be completed in a single session of 3-5 hours, or stretched across multiple sessions. 1/2

I'm not looking to change up my current game, but Timothy S. Brannan is tempting me with his take on 1980s teen horror roleplaying using Night Shift. If that genre, that game, or games of that ilk are your jam, I encourage you to check out this blog post about Jackson, IL!

Let’s do it, again. Five authors, five fiction books each, I’ve read them, they aren’t on my previous list f 5 authors, AND I own a copy of the book (physical or digital) Sergei Lukyanenko Craig Johnson Ian Fleming Karen Traviss Glen Cook

Conspiracies by Derek(tm!) 1. Bond was killed to end the known IP. AKA if Amazon wants it, they can create their own Bond. 2. It’s not about which US Navy ships are in the Caribbean. It’s about where they are no longer sailing. It’s just convenient to put them in place near Venezuela for optics.

Witcher season four…not sure what’s going on here. Ciri looks like she’s in her fifties. Whichever sword Geralt is handling changes size from scene to scene. Continuous rehashing to work New Geralt into Old Geralt scenes. But it’s the best cosplay of Henry Cavill I’ve ever watched.

Festival of the Living Dead 2.5⭐️ Inconsistent zombies and storytelling really hampered this one. They hit a lot of the right notes for a zombie tale. Easily 30 minutes too long. It felt like they had too much material and struggled to decide what to cut. www.imdb.com/title/tt2773...
