25 years ago today, Ms. Scambra did the impossible. She sat down 20 scared, confused, and vulnerable fourth graders and just … talked. To the best of her ability explained the unfolding situation and answered all our questions. I know with the weight of today that this doesn’t seem so important.

Exactly. There’s no teaching going on inside. And to my knowledge, I haven’t seen any reports of investments from these companies into education. Hopefully I’m wrong. But I doubt it. Taxpayers foot the bill. Rich get richer. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

That’s the part I question. No arguing short term gains. But the world is continuously moving to remote work. And best case scenario, you hope younger generations in the area inspire to learn tech, quit working on the farms, and work there. But that opens up a whole new can of worms.

It’s been a whole year since I started seriously learning Spanish. I’m still not talking, which is part of the process I’m using to learn. But it’s amazing what I can understand now. I figure by this time next year, I should be able to speak pretty fluently. The grind continues.
