Many good points. None of them being that Zionism isn't actually racist.

I love how 'a nutter' sits within that list. Whoever wrote it clearly anticipated how this would be received.

In addition - the sketches are not racist, and it is a sign of a broader malaise that we now treat “jokes about racists and racism” as indistinguishable from “racist jokes”.

I've been watching the axed Mitchell and Webb sketches. The first instance I've noticed of a comedy that could not be made today because it's too progressive now.

Do some people seriously believe that certain groups in the UK or USA will lose their right to vote, if enough people call them stupid? Is that the electoral strategy for progressives right now?

It's funny how men's spaces turn into no spaces. Do TRAs think trans men just cease to exist, I wonder?

DT @derailedthought.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
Well I won't personally decide for each user of each facility every time. Sadly I don't have the availability. Sorry to disappoint.
010
DT @derailedthought.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
Trans women are already allowed in the male facilities. I have no wish to humiliate anyone. I want new legislation that is less restrictive of female people, in a way likely to predominantly serve trans men.

Literally arguing for rights for trans men. But ok dude. Call it transphobia if it pleases you.

DT @derailedthought.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
I have written to my TRA MP about this several times since the FWS ruling. So far not even a cursory reply. Pitifully few people seem to care about trans men.

DT @derailedthought.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
Female only facilities should remain exclusive to female people.
010
DT @derailedthought.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
It's good to see guidance more closely reflect the law. However, I think this should highlight that some potential changes to legislation could have broad acceptance. Male facilities should not be exclusionary. Most women won't want to go in. But those who do should be lawfully permitted.

DT @derailedthought.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
"have to" is not correct. In fact, there are cases where trans men can be lawfully excluded from the women's facilities.

The Earth has mountains, seas and valleys and is oblong over the poles. The gender critical position is that this is round. As opposed to a shape cluster spectrum that absolutely must not be called round, because round is a precise thing that doesn't allow for craggy rocks.

I can't speak for the MPs but yes. The party has ridiculous dogma on both. Fortunately it doesn't take up that much (any) time at the local branch. We mostly talk about green spaces, environmental policy and local community projects.

The leadership definitely is. And a vast bulk of the members. But I think it could turn around soon. It would help if the government would just get on with publishing the EHRC guidance.

I shall vote for the Green Party candidate in my local election, despite his silly party leader, because he's been a conscientious district councillor. He and my Green Party County Councillor have, perhaps wisely, kept shtum on the trans issue. I suspect there are many more like them.

So called “gender affirming care” is the biggest medical scandal of our time. A new Finnish study reports that youth gender transitions (under age 23) did not improve mental health symptoms. For some youth, medical gender reassignment may have had a negative impact.

Despite rumours, feminism is still commonly believed to have something to do with women.
Cambridge dictionary
Feminism

At its core, feminism is the belief in full social, economic, and political equality for women. Feminism largely arose in response to Western traditions that restricted the rights of women, but feminist thought has global manifestations and variations.Merriam-Webster
Feminism

Feminism
Advocacy of equality of the sexes and the establishment of the political, social, and economic rights of the female sex; the movement associated with this (see note below). Cf. womanism n., women's liberation n.

You're tying yourself in knots because of labels which you have axiomatically applied to certain ideas. You've created a false dilemma where Emily can't be feminist and anti fascist while believing women are female. But that only follows from your decrees.

DT @derailedthought.bsky.social · 02/04/2026
Most words don't have perfectly strict definitions. That's not a problem unique to 'women', it's how language works. You don't need to resolve every edge case before a category is useful. For specific purposes, you might need to resolve edge cases. E.g. for sports: SRY negative or CAIS.

DT @derailedthought.bsky.social · 02/04/2026
Do you think that's relevant, if you don't centre women in your definition of feminism?
