The Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration Jim O'Callaghan today signed the contract for a new extension at the Dóchas Centre (Mountjoy Female Prison) that will increase the prison’s capacity by 52 spaces or 30%. Read more: bit.ly/4wRSQ37

Today, Minister Jim O’Callaghan signed the contract for a new extension at the Dóchas Centre (Mountjoy Female Prison) that will increase the prison’s capacity by 52 spaces or 30%. 

The project will commence construction in September 2026, with practical completion expected in Q4 2027.
