Post a picture without explanation and fuck the rest of that text...
An ingenious statue of a realistic-looking elephant, balanced on the end of its trunk, its feet touching the ceiling of the medieval hallway where it is displayed.

Awww, fuck. Howarth was one of the cartoonists who convinced me that I could still enjoy comics despite having grown up, and past the stuff I used to enjoy as a child. Bugtown was as necessary as Palomar, at one point in my reading.
Cover to the Post Brothers short story "Temple Snare" by Matt Howarth.

What's a poster you had in your room growing up? I couldn't find a proper image, but I had a mildly different-looking, "Too Tough to Die"-era German Ramones poster as a teenager.

Drop something UNNERVING You've never noticed, but these signs are three streets down from yours.
Two seeming neighborhood signs in front of a suburban house. Top is a triangular sign with a Misfits-style picture of a skull. Below is a rectangular sign with the words "I WANT YOUR SKULL! I NEED YOUR SKULL!"

The problem with this whole Kirkman/'90s-were-great nonsense is that I've already explained why it's horseshit once before and, seriously, it took forever. See Comics Journal #277 if you're curious. Last line: "The American comic-book industry has been crawling slowly from the wreckage ever since."

I have a fraction of the ephemera at best, but it's enough to give a vague idea how big a COMPLETE BUGTOWN would have to be.

Almost a sequence from the manga "Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou," in which our heroine sits in contemplation within her coffeeshop, staring at the fish-shaped wind device in her yard and waiting for customers.

Whose work most strikes you, but seemingly no one else, as comics? For me, it's the photo-collage work of the late news photographer Dan Eldon, who was murdered in Mogodishu at the height of the Somali conflict. The below book is one of my favorite graphic novels ever.

For my money, "Project A Part II" is Jackie Chan's greatest film, set in British colony-era Hong Kong and a brilliant and inventive homage to such danger-comedy pioneers as Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. Beats the pants off the original film.

If you could have one superhero take you out for a good time, who would you choose? If that's the scenario, I'm probably hallucinating anyway, so why not go all the way, skip the costumes and head straight into a night on the town with Ron Post? Guns ahoy!
