#sanbae Back at digitizing and machine #embroidery! Weyrem Nation!
A black background embroidered patch depicting Vtuber Sansin in a pose from her music video of her Seven Nation Army cover. The woman with dragon horns is depicted from the midsection upward, hands outreached, fingers spread. She is wearing sunglasses with white bobbed hair with black streaks. The embroidery is all white thread, with gray and silver for the shadows, and the black of the background fabric showing through to depict linework, San’s tattoos, and sunglasses

At least being too broke to afford new games has given me the opportunity to dig in the closets for the old game consoles and handhelds! On my way toward making my own Nerd room
A wooden desk, cluttered with various elements of retro and handheld gaming. There’s plastic milk crates on their side below the desk, one on the desk, alongside a silver CRT TV. Next to the crate is a display for a Gameboy color, clear purple with 3 gameboy pokemon games on the display as well: Red blue and Yellow. There’s a Game And Watch displaying a Mario themed digital display of the time. The tv displays a screen of the blue ocean and colorful reefs of Ecco the Dolphin on Sega Genesis. There is a black GameCube with games, gameboy advance SPs, plastic cases of GameCube games. Below the desk is a Sega Genesis with 3D printed blue game cartridge display, an N64 with 3d printed games display, and nylon carrying bags for the n64 and gameboy color

Met quite the productive little critter this morning on my walk! The web was large enough to span from a stop sign to a nearby tree about 5 feet away, and about 8 feet in the air! I believe this is either a marbled orb weaver or a furrow orb weaver
An upwards angle photograph of the morning sky, pale blue with the sun rising to the left of the photo. Silhouetted in black is a small form of a spider, crawling in its web, with a fresh catch of a fly. The web is near invisible against the sky but it stretches between a stop sign and a nearby tree. There are tiny, almost indecipherable other silhouettes in the sky, which are gnats and mosquitos caught in the webA close up of the spider crawling over its webbed up caught fly. The spider is about the size of a quarter. The body is a pale orange with an orangish brown thick, bulbous abdomen. The abdomen has a pattern of spots and stripes colored in shades of brown and tan

Print Gocco run from this weekend! This was my first go with working with multiple masters with the Gocco. I think they’re… okay. There’s a quality missing in the prints and I just like the pencils better. Maybe I need 1 more something in the prints to take up the negative space

A callback to Charlton Comics’ Fightin’ series, here’s my next #Vtuber comic book fan art featuring Tomoe Umari! Printed with #risograph!
A Risograph print depicting Vtuber Tomoe Umari, a horse Vtuber, on a Minesweeper board. It is stylized like a vintage comic book with a title block top center, a publisher info block in the top left with issue number below. There are flags scattered about, depicting the game almost completed, except for 2 blocks with question marks. The numbers surrounding them indicate the choice is 50-50 which is a mine and which is safe. Tomoe is straddling these two tiles, donned in a military inspired cropped vest and shorts. She is cradling a mascot of her chat, a little horse looking afraid in an army helmet, while she has the final red flag in her other. She is shocked and has a word balloon stating “This is it Umarmy!! This time we’re swept!”

Much happier with this round of #pottery glazing than the last. Tried a new brand of glazes the studio had, I love the look of the Oxblood over the Shipwreck blue! Lovely speckling
Three glazed pottery pieces, all three bowls. A blue green taller one with dark speckles, a shot flat one with earthy green and a light green center. Finally a mid sized bowl with purple glaze overlaid with wisps of blueish greenA blue green glazed bowl with dark brown firecracker speckles, roughly a handful sizedThe flat short bowl with varying green earthy tones of the glaze. The finish is a bit more matte. The bowl is about 8 inches in diameterThe purple bowl with cloudy greenish blue tones. There’s some concentric circle patters of the greenish blue wisps in the bowl

I’ve been building #gunpla on and off for a few years, but never had the courage to start painting til recently. I’m having so much fun trying out different techniques and effects! It’s been like glazing pottery, where I can just play and create, less focus on the details more on the overall effect
Two plastic 1/144 scale gunpla models. One red boxy robot is on a knee, looking up and aiming its cannons at a blue sleeker pirate-looking robot striking out with a kick. They’re both battle worn with paint effects showing weathering and battle damageA single 1/144 scale gundam ground type model with heavy weathering details. It’s carrying a weapon in each hand; an smg style gun in one and a large two-handed grenade launcher style weapon carried by its top handle in the other. It is standing upright, relaxed, mid stride, like its trekking to its next missionA light purple, sleek looking gunpla robot model. It has thinner, sleeker arms and legs with large thrusters on its hips. It looks built for speed. Its helmet is angular with white wing like protrusions, and it carries a futuristic lance and round shield. It’s got the shield up, the lance at the ready, held up in the air by a stand, facing upward and ready to thrust forward and strikeA heavily weathered gunpla robot. Its torso and shield are in a pale, militaristic green. The shoulders are big and boxy with large points and the boots are thick and rounded. It looks heavy and powerful with two long fuel cells for its thrusters protruding from its back. It’s on a desk surrounded by paints and other robot weapon accessories to be painted, and the build instructions in the background

His female doll form is depicted as a toy paper ballerina, reaching out gently toward his male form, PorcelainGuard, depicted as a porcelain toy soldier. They are engulfed in flames, while a maniacal king figure is in the background, sneering, watching them burn. The title “Porcelain Maid” is at the top on red script. Researching more into zines has gotten me wanting to explore the art of collaging. I inherited my grandmother’s stamp collection awhile ago, and started to play around with placement and shapes. Making relationships between disparate objects or just arranging them aesthetically
A collage piece consisting of vintage postage stamps. A large cloud of colorful stamps is in the middle of the image. They have artwork of European and East Asian architecture, historical artifacts, works of art. There js a stamp of an American flag and others of Soviet iconography. Below, at the bottom of the right side of the frame is artwork from a stamp of two men with their backs to the viewer, walking together leaving footprints. Above the cloud is a stamp of a bird.

I’ve seen a lot of other makers and creators express interest in #zines lately, and I made a happy discovery at the bookshop! This book from 96 has incredible insight into the minds and processes of makers in the movement. Given their transient nature, it’s a brilliant collection of zines to explore
The cover of “Zines Vol.1” with the title text at the top, and a person wearing a leopard print jacket holding fanned out copies of zines. There is a word bubble from them reading “Surrender to the Incredibly strange urge to create your own zine!” A large REsearch logo is in the bottom right corner and below it reads “From V. Vale, former co-publisher of RE/SearchA 2 page spread form the book. This section is about the creator of the Zine CrapHound, a zine that collects text and clipart arranged in artistic layoutsPages from the zine Housewife Turned Assassin by Sisi and Dani, beginning in 1993. Some of my favorite prints from yesterday’s printmaking session! Brown God is NOT my artwork, it’s the cover to a booklet from the 1910s that I found in a secondhand shop but it’s just so rad that I wanted a poster size! That orange is so cool!
A psychedelic Risograph print. Colors swirl of pink and green with spots of yellow and purple. The image is of a dog peeking through leaves in a garden, mirrored across the X axisA laser etched woodcut print. The ink is a grayish green blue. It depicts St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, in a stippled dot style. There are some details of the architecture, but the people below are mostly shaded in a single tone in their silhouettes. There are two people at the front, a taller man and a young child, presumably related, standing in front of the scene posing for the photograph the fetching was based on. There are grains from the wood cutting lines across the ink coveragePrinting results from 3D printed stamps. The ink is black, and varying density. There is a stamp of big block letters reading “Deo The Bear” with claw marks raked across the letters. An icon of a bear paw mark surrounded by a large circle, and a few stamps of cursive lettering reading “Deo The Bear,” the artist’s signatureAn orange colored book cover titled “The Brown God and His White Imps Or The Evils of Tobacco and Cigarettes”. The text is off-white from the newsprint the print is transferred into. In the center is an illustration of a large anthropomorphic cigar, holding a staff with a skull and crossbones ontop. Beside him are cartooonish cigarettes with bat wings and puffs of smoke, all worshiping a coffin

My current used bookstore obsession: clipart books! These will be fun to mix and collage with the Riso clipart from the Gocco. I think I’ll make it an ongoing project of mine to collect, scan, and vectorize a library of clipart for other designers and printmakers to use too #clipart #printmaking
A brown colored booklet, published by Dover ClipArt Series. It is a collection of various clipart images, presumably older public-domain illustrations. This collection is focused on clipart regarding reading and books. There are pen and ink illustrations rendered in black and white depicting Victorian dressed characters young and old with books or writing. Some illustrations are even medieval or of men from the Elightenment period of European historyA page of the book, with several pen and ink illustrated clipart images, presumably taken from historical print publications in the public domain. They’re rendered with cross hatching styles. They depict a dip pen and ink bottle, a man in a chair smoking and reading, a man and a woman snuggled and reading a newspaper, an illustration of a grand, two-story library, among othersA two page spread of the book. Illustrations here depict ink bottles, Renaissance era characters with books, a man in a turn of the century lounge chair, women reading and writing at a desk, and even a tasteful nude illustration of a woman reclining on the floor reading a bookA page from the book, with more illustrations. A shelf of books, some standing tall, others haphazard and leaning. A scene of a man at a desk. Another of a man in peculiar older clothing reading a manuscript. There is a curious illustration of a book with a human face on its cover, as if the book has come alive

After the master stencil is made, we can apply ink beneath the plastic film of the screen, then load it back into the press. The inks are very stable and don't mix together without a lot of agitation. I'll need to experiment more with mixing different colors and using multiple stencils!

The text "IF YOU BELIEVED" is now printed in silver ink, with some blue bleeding across the letters. The Screentone dots are colored blue, and the moon is a dancing tye-dye of purple and red, with some artifacting of spots of bare paper and smears of blue. The IF YOU BELIEVED print, printed multiple times across multiple different colors of paper. There is green, light green, light and dark blue, light orange, yellow, purple, newsprint and black paper. The vibrancy of the inks varies with the brightness of the page. The PG5, loaded with screen and original, ready to be pressed with the flash device to make the master. The illustration to be copied is a 5.5"x3" card of white paper, with hadwritten English text reading "IF YOU BELIEVED" in capital letters, above a high contrast black photocopy of a photograph of the moon. The negative space around the writing and moon is filled with tiny stippled dotsA close up of the flash box of the PG5. Not a bad day throwing on the wheel today! I’m getting more and more comfortable centering larger masses of clay, these were 3 and 2.5 lb. I’m leaving a lot of weight in the bottom of the vessel still, and I should be able to get my walls thinner with more practice. Obligatory Pottery Cat! #pottery
Three freshly spun clay pottery vessels. One about 6inches tall and evenly wide, tapering slightly at the bottom, like a common flower pot. The second is a thicker, shorter bowl, the wet clay showing the lines of spinning. The final is another bowl, with a taller foot on the bottom, but about the same widthA top down view of a freshly thrown pottery vessel. The concentric circles show the texture of the work spinning the clay into the final shape of a good sized soup bowl.An orange tabby cat, laying curled up on forest green lounge chair in a pottery studio. Have you gotten the chance to try out a roller printer like a Risograph? It’s a Japanese printer with soy-based inks. Gets you that really authentic zine/ poster/ comic book look! The flaws and imperfections give each individual print a lot of character
A large, stand up printer, called a Risograph. It’s front panel door is open, showing the drum for black in installed in the machine. On the back wall are different colored examples of prints from the machine, and the results of different ratios of color mixing for the inksAn artistic, stylized print from the Risograph machine. The page is light, mint green. A suburban house with mostly bare trees is printed on the top and bottom, mirrors of each other. The top house has details rendered in black and green ink. The bottom has details rendered in magenta and cornflower blue. They share a sky in the middle of the page, colored in magenta, with artifacting of tire tracks from the guide wheel of the machine streaked across the center. There is a tongue of blue flame floating above the bottom house, surrounded by the pink sky
