Who are the investors? No one knows, but my own hunch is just the simplest conclusion — the CPL. Bob Young and Rob Friend would benefit from investing here, but they know that their public involvement would undermine Derek Martin’s authority, so they stay in the background.

Getting a bit more philosophical, the show also suggests that forgiveness is powerful, but (like all great power) it comes with responsibility. But that’s not a bad thing at all. Indeed, that’s important when you hold the most powerful weapon in the universe!

The more I think about the ending of Lanterns, the more impressed I am. Everything got wrapped up (except for one deliberate question for next season), and in a way that shows how John Stewart is going to be a terrific Green Lantern.

All things being equal, I’d prefer not to have a stadium on a parking lot, of course. But there is a little bit of schadenfreude in knowing that for the FOHC, that’s the one thing worse than a stadium, and it’s getting added to the stadium. ; )

You’re both right about Telfer, he’s been terrific this year. TMG has taken the opposite path — last year he was just what we needed, but this year he’s had a few missteps. I still love his skill and passion, though.

I’m sure a lot of people don’t like Hal’s characterization. But for me, it sets up history and adds value. There is ONE Green Lantern per sector. Any more than that is extraordinary. To fit Hal, John, Guy, Kyle, Alan, Jessica, and Simon into the roster would be overkill for movies.

Meanwhile, a lease can be negotiated: like the article says, it doesn’t have to be as long as 99 years, and it can stipulate exactly what the city gets back when the lease expires. There are plenty of ways to create a beneficial scenario for everyone here, and the city can exert its control.

It’s a space in the center of the city that was gated off by an iron fence for thirty years. It was used for 350 hours of frisbee/year, and that’s all. Meanwhile, the public gardens and Citadel Hill are directly adjacent - either of those were always a better place for a picnic.
