Kids are our future - so glad they are paying attention. This specific group of teen authors caught my eye because I know most of them. Two were elementary school classmates of my kids, one is the child of friends I studied with at UAF, and one is a current classmate of my middle daughter.

I was out door knocking in the rain tonight - and look who I ran into! Matt Schultz has been an amazing advocate for justice and compassion in our community. Anchorage is blessed to have so many people working hard to for a better future.

Another night out on the scooter, in the rain, knocking on doors and listening to neighbors. I started my evening in conversation with a father of school aged children. He is experiencing the reality that we no longer live in economy where a family can get by on one income.

Crashes like this are always awful - but it’s even more tragic when you know someone involved. Leah joined the handbell choir at St John UMC last spring. My family played alongside her. She had played bells growing up & was excited to find a group here. Her smile and laughter will be deeply missed.

The preliminary 57 vote lead in our primary inspired some condiment-themed memes among my campaign team, but I’m still out knocking on doors to ask what issues I can take to Juneau on behalf of my neighbors. This was my reaction to a door knock yesterday: I’m not delivering orders, I’m taking them.

Fun to see all the other candidates out with their sign crews - while they were at some of the busiest intersections in town, my crew was waving at the busiest intersection in our district. Got a lot of waves and honks, and chats with supporters as they walked by.

Sign waving yesterday, 2 boys ride bikes thru the intersection. They read our signs out loud with curiosity. I let them know I’m Denny Wells. One immediately asks “can you buy me a new bike?” He’s riding a newer bike than my own kids. Can’t do a new bike, but can vote to fund your schools!

Closing the UAA testing center is a great loss to the community. My daughter tested there for admission to the ANSEP acceleration academy. I tested there to get my Drone Pilots License. My other daughter is scheduled to take her SAT there this fall. There is no analogous testing location in town.

Watched the World Cup with my family, then headed out door knocking. Common themes in this weekend’s conversations were concerns about corruption and cost of living. We can do better.
