Apparently Kohler makes a smart toilet called Claude. This does not appear to be some kind of elaborate joke, but this is the single best name for a smart toilet imaginable.

An ad for a toilet. It's labeled "introducing Claude smart toilet"

Messing around with black and white with inverted colors, it created some interesting effects #photography

Interesting challenge of attempting some nighttime #photography in the rather ugly suburban wasteland I live in

Photographed a combat robotics event this weekend, modern camera sensors really are incredible. The fact that I can use this fast of a shutter speed with a fairly narrow aperture, crop the image a bunch, and the image quality is usable is insane flickr.com/photos/13060...

AI slop sites have completely broken search engines. It's all slop. I genuinely wonder if the best approach is to return to just having human maintained directories of actually good shit. It would be crazy inefficient but like... Google/DuckDuckGo is becoming absolutely useless.

If you're going to post AI slop, at least have the decency to tag that shit so I can block it from showing up in my timeline. Also, spamming a nonstop stream of AI generated scantily clad Asian women does not make you a "digital artist"

God AI bullshit is annoying. Trying to troubleshoot an issue and I find a GitHub issue that matched the problem I was having, with a plausible looking response to "fix" the issue. It's only after like an hour trying to apply the fix that I notice the "response" was AI generated bullshit.

9to5google.com/2025/01/27/g... Anybody have any good Google Maps alternatives that are going to continue to exist in reality?

Google Maps to rename the 'Gulf of America' in US, rest of the world will see two names

Google Maps has confirmed that, following the US GNIS, it will rename the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America."

It's weird how often I have nightmares that are some variant of "I am back in school." Also probably not a great sign about the way the education system works that my brain seems to think of school as some kind of minor traumatic event it needs to process or whatever

@nerd4cities.bsky.social I've realized that food trucks are basically just latent demand for mixed use zoning with small non-chain restaurants near to where people work, but in the most American form possible - attached to a truck

When your comically oversized pickup truck is so large it sticks out past the end of the parking spot, blocking another parking spot
