iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Doing a rewatch of The Walking Dead. This show had no business going so hard on raw acting talent. Rick, Carol, Michonne… these people went full send on some of these performances and it is not appreciated enough

As a manager whose brain is really suited to management (think: interrupt-driven, lots of context-switching) I find the discourse that “AI will protect our focus” hilarious because the shift from doing your own work to managing agents’ work mirrors my job, in which I experience almost no focus ever

The people in charge of OpenAI and Anthropic claiming that the frontier models are too strong and will destroy humanity is basically the “we’re all trying to find the guy who did this” scene in real life

I haven’t flown via JFK in decades and I am nonplussed to report that Terminal 1 seems to have experienced zero improvements since I was last here as an undergrad Truly a Hobbesian state of nature out here, with more capitalism!

hey, you know what would be a really great use of AI, esp for community platforms… Intercepting user-to-user abuse. Seriously. All those vitriol-filled DMs could be identified at scale, and basically silently sent to /dev/null. It’d be like the recipient just ignored them. 🤔

annual Christmas rib eye was a success. This year we tried dry aged prime rib for the first time. I now understand the hype and may be ruined on Costco prime rib forevermore

I want a tool like Tweetdeck (pour one out) but that posts the same content to Bluesky and Mastodon at the same time. What are y’all using to multiplex your federated social medias??

I saw a fireside chat between Chase Joynt and Elliot Page tonight and it was one of the most moving conversations I’ve ever witnessed

I’ve decided to not cut my hair this summer and let it grow super long so I can bleach and dye my real hair for a Halloween costume. It’s June. This may be the earliest I’ve ever started preparing for Halloween

now that I’m not officially in a leadership role, I can reflect on how much of my brain power used to be dedicated to preparing for and running meetings. I say this not to be like “ugh meetings” but instead.. just recognizing that useful meetings actually take a lot of emotional labor to pull off

I definitely just realized that “workin on the night cheese” from 30rock is a parody song and not an original song.
