Republicans control the House & Senate, & they've run on their support for the military & veterans, yet only 12 veterans' bills have become law this Congress. Democrats enacted 60 in the 117th, including the Honoring Our PACT Act.

Republicans have spent their majority slashing programs that support veterans, like VASP, the one program that kept veterans housed. In the middle of an affordability crisis, Republicans are effectively taking money OUT of veterans' pockets instead of keeping it there.

The House is ready to vote on the Major Richard Star Act. But Republican leadership sent folks home after working only seven legislative days in August and September. We can't govern from home. Bring the House back into session, Speaker Johnson, so we can finally pass the Major Richard Star Act.

Between 22,000 and 30,000 veterans lost their homes in the last 18 months. Our Republican colleagues wrongfully terminated VASP, and these veterans are paying the price. The men and women who served this country are suffering because of the actions taken by this majority.

Every day, Americans are facing the rising cost of living, and veterans aren't immune. Foreclosures among veterans are climbing, fueling a rise in homelessness, while many can't get the mental health support they've earned. Instead of prioritizing veterans, Trump prioritizes billionaires.

Republicans have canceled 63 of the House's 261 scheduled voting days. And they canceled session again this week. Combat-injured veterans are waiting for the Major Richard Star Act to pass so they can finally collect their retirement and disability benefits. Bring the House back to vote.

The Taking Benefits From America's Veterans Act never had a chance of passing because veterans & VSOs hated it. Now, Republicans have released the House for an early recess &, once again, have failed to deliver benefits to America's veterans. When will Republicans put veterans first?

🧵1/4 The least transparent administration in history strikes again! Without notifying Congress, @secvetaffairs.bsky.social quietly awarded contracts worth up to $1 TRILLION to 4 corporate healthcare giants 2 weeks ago. No surprise, VA was unprepared to answer questions from Congress when pressed.

A blind VA employee is suing because VA’s new Oracle EHR can’t be used independently by people who are visually impaired. VA’s fix? Hire someone to help them use it. That’s not accessibility. That’s a workaround. Other EHR systems can meet Section 508 standards. Why can’t Oracle’s?

$17,000,000,000. That's the increase VA tried to keep out of public view in its Oracle EHR contract. For comparison: $17 billion could fund veterans’ benefits and care VA says it can’t afford. We need answers and accountability.

$17 billion has been added to the cost of Oracle’s contract for VA’s EHR modernization. Now, Oracle is refusing to testify today to answer questions about the deal. If there’s nothing to hide, why won’t Oracle appear before Congress?

Veterans and VSOs have made their voices heard: Congress must pass the Major Richard Star Act as a clean, standalone bill. Our nation’s combat veterans deserve a legislative solution that does not pay for benefits for some veterans by cutting benefits for others.
