Sage replies that for a time, he did want just that and nothing ore. But now he couldn't. He couldn't think of a future in his life where he wasn't able to see him, hear him, bicker with him again. Sage confesses that his company made him see things in another light, and appreciate the present more.

TR starts avoiding Sage (for his sake, he tells himself. He wouldn't be sad if he leaves, no no). This goes on for a weeks until a frustrated Sage tells him he's going to reject the job offer. TR calls him a stupid idiot, asks why he would even want to waste his time teaching here just for his sake.

Angst happens. Sage gets a huge job offer out of country. Sage feels this is a big opportunity for him but he's in conflict of leaving for so long. TR discovers it on accident and as much as he can, tries to push him to accept the offer, at the point of regressing to his starting behavior.

against his better judjment, and much careful weeks of preparations, Sage eventually finds a way to make them meet. They both discuss and apologize to each other. They know things won't go back to the way they were before but at least it's a start. In the end it's all forgiven but not forgotten.

Sage asks if she would like for him to call TR over (hoping she would not), but she confesses about their fallout and she also would like to apologize to him but she's unsure if he would want to speak to her. Now that he's been accidentally involved, he knows TR is going to kill him (metaphorically)

After class she asks if by any chance an old friend of her was still studying here since he was the teacher of those classes. Sage, who didn't realize who this girl was until now, is "oh...". He says yes but nothing else out of respect. gets conflictual feelings wether he should get involved or not

a year passes, smth smth WL moves back and accidentally bumps onto Sage at a coffee shop, exchange apologies and each goes their own way. Turns out WL is back for master's degree classes (to which Sage was assigned to teach for a bigger paycheck) They are both surprised to see each other again.

For several months it becomes a routine: Sage is more confident at teaching and TR is less rude. Miscellaneous stuff happens: TR crashes at Sage's place after a bad night, he lets him sleep on the couch. The day afer Sage leaves keys and breakfast for TR for whenever he needed. TR calls him an idiot
