I swear half the indie games I see promoted on social media I look up and they're months from even being in alpha, then when they release, nothing

I still can't believe Sony got away with it. Less than 20 hours of game time for AAA prices is criminal. The industry is going to be worse off because of this "win". Companies have just had it confirmed in their minds that they can deliver fuck-all for game time and charge the same price. Sad.

I'm not mad that Wukong lost, I'm mad that AstroScam won. The game is absurdly short in play time for the price, imo it shouldnt even have been considered for the awards. Stop rewarding AAA publishers for charging AAA prices for something shorter than most indie games in the same genre.

To more directly answer your question, the feeling of looking back and being able to say "I made this" after years of truly believing that the world of game development was beyond me, is what keeps me going. It reminds me that I can grow and learn no matter how stuck I may feel in the moment.

I've wanted to make games ever since I was a kid but always told myself that I'd never be good enough at art or coding to make it happen, so I never even tried. Over the years I opened up to my creative side in other ways and eventually said "fuck it, let's just give it a try" and now I can't stop.
