We're watching a Tasting History episode, and the dog we're sitting fucking hates Thomas Jefferson. She's fine when Max or the guest chef is on screen, but any time Tommy shows up she starts growing and pacing.

I kinda like when I'm reading an SFF book and there's a chapter that's just a world building essay. Like, hell yeah I'll read a fictional future history about the invention and colloquialisms around your FTL, or about the reproductive and cultural norms of this fictional planet.

My two-day new hire orientation happens to line up with a big event here in town, so I get three days in a row of learning all about the corporate culture and leadership principles. 🙃

New job started me with a MacBook, and I'm fighting for my life with decades of keyboard shortcut muscle memory. MacOS is frustratingly inconsistent with what uses Ctrl, Alt, or Cmd.

Starting my first day at the new job with a 30 minute call to IT over a completely predictable flaw in the onboarding process. Their hold music was actually pretty good, but it cut off in the middle of the song and restarted it way too frequently.

We got a second cat. His name is Linus, and he's a very scared and shy tripod (missing a hind leg), and I immediately fell in love. I cried multiple times in the shelter when meeting him.
A long haired tabby cat hiding under a bed. He's lying down with his head resting on the carpet. The same long-haired tabby in the same location. He's still lying down but his head is lifted and his three paws are visible.

This guy's job, essentially. I was a white person intermediary between Indian devs and Southern clients. The receptionist said, in not at many words, that my being a native English speaker was a distinct advantage in getting hired. And all this was while I was still in college.

Probably the 1992 presidential election. Nickelodeon did this thing where you could call in for who you wanted to win, and I remember thinking we should go with Bush since he already had the job and must be okay at it. Probably good we don't let 5 year olds vote.

After very nearly a year unemployed, today I signed an offer letter for a job, and I'll be starting next month. I am *unbelievably* relieved. It happened really quickly too. A former coworker reached out about the opening on his team less than 2 weeks ago.

I can usually suspend my disbelief when playing video games, but occasionally I'm really left wondering about the ecology of a huge boss monster in a dungeon. Like, what are you eating, my guy? And how did you get in here?

My (now right-wing transphobe) aunt showed us Rocky Horror Picture Show when I was like 6. My first in a theater was probably Interview with the Vampire, though I'm not sure it counts because it was the second half of a double-feature at a drive in, and I fell asleep after Batman Forever.

I recently reread the Hobbit for the first time in decades, and I actually found it to be kinda hard to read in my head. But rather than saying it's not for children, I'd actually say it should be read aloud. Most of my reading isn't "voiced" in my head, but the Hobbit needed it.

In Star Trek, nearly all supernatural beliefs are either basically true, or it's actually aliens (prophets are wormhole aliens, B'Elanna visits hell, Chakotay's spirits are aliens). Except Neelix apparently, whose heaven is simply not real.
