NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication 🔭🧪👌 ℹ️: science.nasa.gov/image-articl...

The imposing Callanish Stones stand talk with their shadows spanning out across the glass. It's a super clear sky, but looks cold. Above the central stone is a strange figure-of-8 shape of dots. This is the location of the Sun, at noon, on various different days across the year.

Antiquated HTML Snippets and Artefacts

Overviews of the very many snippets of code that were once commonly included on websites to address specific cases with certain technologies, browsers, operating systems, or extensions. Fragments dating back to the days of Internet Explorer and Netscape, to more modern bits that are nonetheless obsolete.

“Programming as Theory Building” and “The Book of Five Rings.” Gonna try to catch the Norway game and will definitely geek out on this over the weekend. gwern.net/doc/cs/algor...

impeccable.style by @pbakaus.bsky.social is on my radar. Looking forward to doing a final pass(es) of MindBlossom.app with it once the feature work is complete shortly 🤞

Currently reading these two together and wondering how close I can get to reproducing the findings with some old data sets I have lying around. digits.com/downloads/be... blog.jxmo.io/p/zen-and-th...

Is there already a #vibecoding wall of shame somewhere?

Noticing egregious bugs with more frequency in household apps. Tempted to set up a consumer reporting and refund request site or something. The amount of #vibeCoding #AIslop in lieu of engineering in the billion dollar market caps is too damn high and frankly embarrassing.
