supporting the franchise, even indirectly through fanart, is in poor taste at *best*. helping HP retain cultural relevancy is also helping the author to continue to oppress trans folk. and that's not even mentioning the trend's portmanteau which is explicitly a transphobic slur.

I've said it before, I'll say it again here, the 'genderbent draco malfoy' trend is directly based on an IP owned by a transphobic author who is using her money from this franchise to hurt (and potentially kill) trans folk. she has already had a law passed in the UK thanks to her profits.

yeahp. i would say that a majority of the artists doing the Garish Slopper Trend don't actually know why people are getting mad about it, and in fact do actually care about trans rights. They just do not know how to reconcile 'caring about trans rights' with their attitude of 'follow the trends'.
