Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Most of my attachment to the universe comes from small things in the sourcebooks that sparked my imagination, so realizing I had done that for someone else was incredible. I also got to invent my own holiday; now every September 3 I party to honor the Unwearied Second. 1,025 years and counting. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 09/10/2026#mechtober Day 9: House Commands My favorite BT memory isn't even that I got to write my favorite unit, the 2nd Donegal Guards. It was like a year later, when I saw a random post saying that one sentence I wrote inspired a stranger to build a whole scenario for their friends to play. 141
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Personally, I like the POV of a prestigious unit because you have to deal with the weight of expectations. If you are, say, the oldest unit in the Great House militaries you have to deal with 1,025 years of accumulated tradition and the pressure that goes with it. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 30/09/2026The Special Edition of Empire is generally unobtrusive and I barely noticed it. But RotJ... *Shudder* 130
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 22/09/2026And he would have had to declare war on the FWL to get at the Cameron-Joneses 120
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Amaris didn't even kill all the ones ON TERRA. The Windsor-Camerons are still around into the 3070s 130
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 17/09/2026ID = identify EA = the video game company LG = the TV makers Y = Yes It is a call for more transparent corporate leadership in two very specific companies 030
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Well the one on the right doesn't specify a game that I don't play so it's not much of a choice. That poster on the left also looks like shit though. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 01/09/2026That kind of encouragement really makes a difference. My niece was lucky enough to have a kindergarten teacher who was great at that, she went from "I don't know how to read and I can't do it" to "I love to read and write" over the school year. Some support and guidance can be all it takes! 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 01/09/2026I'll be at PAX West instead, but I really like that you are involved with a writing panel dedicated to Allston. 020
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I have been pleasantly surprised with how well it has been received. I was bracing myself for a surprise EA reveal of "buy crystals to level your characters" or something, but the studio must have fought them off With knives. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 19/08/2026I think I responded to the wrong leg of this conversation then because I definitely meant to be talking to the guy who held it up as somehow better than the shit that comes out of my ass 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 18/08/2026The FedCom Civil War requires everyone in Davion space to have failed civics. Even the ones from good planets! It is a nonsense conflict even before you get into the total lack of front lines or territorial control. 110

Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 15/08/2026I loved Babs as Jamis in Dune. The way he took a small part and really maximized the impact of his scenes left me really appreciating his work. I was really excited when I saw he'd been cast, and I have not been let down. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 10/08/2026Midnite Vultures has been one of my go-to albums for... oh, 25 years now? Still haven't gotten tired of it. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 15/07/2026Also where the novel is set. It's not really clear until the end, but when the narrator started thinking about hitchhiking to Hood River, it clicked 000
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 09/07/2026Its all about being able to transmit. Can't find it in the gif keyboard but there's one from pre-nwo WCW where a middle aged man in the crowd turns to the camera, rips a piece of Hogan merch in half and gives the Horseman sign. 000
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 09/07/2026I would argue you were old enough to remember when YOU did that. People have been questioning the booking since wrestling was first exposed as scripted back in the 1920s. 110
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 28/06/2026Have you tried eating the Doritos through your mouth rather than putting the dried Doritos crumbs into your butt? It's a common mistake for first timers. 020
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 18/06/2026Katherine had to be the big bad because the civil war wasn't about anything else. There's no ideology or policy wedge. She's all the war has. Victor is just as flat and boring a characters as she is though. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 18/06/2026Vlad has a great scene in Malicious Intent where he decides that him not dying means that "logically" he's the main character of existence. It is, unironically, the most I have ever enjoyed anything Stackpole wrote 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 17/06/2026He and his descendants proved that, while being a good ruler may not be genetic, being a bad one is. 110

Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 28/05/2026The Yoshi games have been aimed at little kids for like 20 fucking years now, you might as well be mad that the princess peach game isn't targeted at you too. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 28/05/2026It's more like if the only easily accessible fantasy book for 20 years was Harry Potter, and then someone who wasn't a huge piece of shit came along and wrote a different book in the same genre. I watch Dynamite regularly but would not take WrestleMania tickets if you paid me to 020
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 17/05/2026I think the ELH have been routinely overrated. There's some weird thing that happened with writers at the time where 3 mixed regiments of ELH were considered three times the size of an RCT even though the RCT was actually triple the size of the ELH. ComStar also routinely benefitted from that. 100

Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 13/05/2026I enjoyed Vlad in Malicious Intent more than any other character Stackpole ever wrote. Him using his conception of Occam's to "deduce" he was alive because he's the main character of existence was so perfectly Clanner. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 13/05/2026God forbid you not have 52 kids in an algebra class like I did in 9th grade when I lived there... 000
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 01/05/2026Teams are a singular, even if their name is plural. "The 1996 Chicago Bulls is the best basketball team ever" for instance. 210
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 19/04/2026You must spend a lot of time with 5-year-olds. Not really a good barometer for an entire population. 000
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 19/04/2026The human body needs to be the thing that does work to be a sport. Being on the pit crew is more of a sport than driving the car is, unless you are tying people to the front of the car and making them pull it. 100

Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 09/04/2026Back in the day the style was to blitz the other team with 7-10 contentions and then attack them on whatever one they talked about the least. Perfect event for somebody just looking to have an issue. 010

Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 08/04/2026I wouldn't say that AI bros are proud to admit it, in my experience, they are far more likely to bend themselves into circles pretending they aren't stealing, they're creating. The fact that they call it AI art at all is telling. 030
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 08/04/2026They're both stealing, but one of them is slightly more respectable because you had to learn SOMETHING to do it 110
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 08/04/2026Tracing still requires some measure of skill. Telling an AI to make you a picture doesn't even reach that level. 110
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 07/04/2026I once left a typo in a story because I realized it made the scene much more exciting if Vegeta was grilling a steering wheel on his way to the final battle with Immortan Joe rather than just grabbing it very hard 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 06/04/2026I would say it depends on what the intended experience was. I would not call This War of Mine a toy, for instance, because it's an attempt to share what the creators experienced living in a war zone. 000
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 05/04/2026You can always tell based on one or two particular things. If someone swears at the Bushwacker is good, they came in through MW3. If they say "this is my custom ride" and it is the funniest shit you have ever seen, MW5. 020
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 29/03/2026Definitely. On the flip side, Neil Adams' ink work on Batman ended up shaping the character for the next 50 years. 010
Defiance Industries @defianceind.bsky.social · 28/03/2026I didn't appreciate the impact inking has on work until I saw what Vince Coletta did to Jack Kirby's art. And then I was like "ohhh... yeah I have been sleeping on the impact of this." 110
