There’s a lot of issues with taxing unrealized gains especially in todays trading environments. Taxing people based on spot or perceived market values would not work well. Volatility and liquidity issues aside you’d run into quite a few other issues as well. Increasing a marginal rate would help.

I personally would disagree. The SIGINT on some U.S aircraft and drones is absolutely insane. Some of the upgraded BLQ-10’s on the submarines and other SIGINT/ EW assets across U.S fleets are just insane. The NSA and CIA also operate crazy complex bases like pine gap & menwith hill.

Unfortunately Israel won’t even let spike ATGM’s go to Ukraine let alone PULS and its air defense systems. Would have been a lot easier to supply Ukraine if Israel and South Korea would’ve been willing to export to Ukraine. Israel, Türkiye and SK all have ATACMS analogs while Europe doesn’t.

One of Ukraines saving Graces is that their defense industry currently produces 1/3 of what they need domestically and their DIB has rapidly expanded to meet the occasion. By later this year they aim to be at 50% of needs met domestically but this will depend on outside funding for their industry.

Things like SBIRS satellites and U.S Intel aren’t exactly replaceable either. Europe has some satellite and Intel capability’s as does Ukraine but it pails in comparison to U.S capability’s.

European countries may still be able to transfer their own patriot interceptors and A2A missiles for Ukrainian jets snd NASAMS systems however it remains unclear if reexport will be hampered by the administration.

I think the challenge for Europe if they step up to replace the funding gap left by the U.S aid pause will largely be in regards to air defense capabilities as well as GMLRS and guided rockets. Artillery shell gaps can largely be compensated for but ABM capabilities can’t in any short term way.

Looking to make a YouTube video next week about the U.S solid rocket motor supply chain and then a follow up video about how Ukraine should go about building its missile program and which firms would be good partners for it.

The challenge for Trump envoy, Keith Kellogg: Putin wishes to re-establish a Russian empire where Ukraine does not exist and to restore Russian spheres of influence. Ukraine wishes to maintain its soverignity and future. Difficult to square that circle unless the US commits resources to Ukraine.

If they were able to produce 100 Neptune missiles. I would assume engine production and some key electronic systems are the limiting factors in scaling cruise missile production besides funding.

With Ukraine having produced 100 Neptune missiles and an unknown number of Palianytsia missiles as well other missiles this year it’ll be interesting to explore how they plan to reach 3,000 missiles next year. Cruise missile Engine production at motorsich has scaled drastically over the last year.

I can’t tell why some people think a few ATACMS strikes will cause a wider war or a nuclear response when Ukraine literally poured tens of thousands of men into a successful invasion of Russia and they didn’t do anything about it. Ps. I think you would have got North Koreans fighting regardless.

7. It’s not popular or pretty but we do have to consider what western countries do with men who have fled Ukraine to avoid mobilization. It’s not something I have an easy answer on and I’ve met some amazing people who left the country out of fear. But it’s something to consider.

defense-analysis.bsky.social @defense-analysis.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
6. We need to help Ukraine identity inefficiencies with its logistics and especially HQ units so that more of the existing military members are able to fight. I’ve heard a lot about Ukrainian HQ units being super over bloated and inefficient. Some personnel likely need to be reallocated to combat.

defense-analysis.bsky.social @defense-analysis.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
5. We need to do everything we can to encourage Ukrainians to volunteer. This is a combination of training, and even things like giving them good equipment and importantly giving them more C-UAS options at the front because drones have struck fear into a lot of people considering joining.
140
defense-analysis.bsky.social @defense-analysis.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
4. We should deepen defense industrial cooperation with Ukraine and further invest in creating new Ukrainian defense manufacturing and expanding their industry and more fully utilizing our own industry to make sure they have the ammunition and equipment they need.
130
defense-analysis.bsky.social @defense-analysis.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
3. We should create a new school for Ukrainians that takes western tactics as well as lessons learned from Ukraine and help train new Ukrainian officers As well as coordinating with existing officers to form a better way to fight. Ukrainian and western military’s have a lot to learn from each other
130
defense-analysis.bsky.social @defense-analysis.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
2. We need to drastically increase the number of Ukrainians trained abroad and increase the training time. This will come with increased cost and stress on western Allie’s but it’ll save lives and generate a larger Ukrainian force.
130
defense-analysis.bsky.social @defense-analysis.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
1. Ukraine will need increased financial aid to support the additional mobilization because each person who joins the military will be one less person generating tax revenue and one more person the government has to pay.
141
defense-analysis.bsky.social @defense-analysis.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
While it remains true that Ukraine will need to mobilize a lot of additional personnel. We need to look at what we can do in the west to support that mobilization and even increase the number of new volunteers joining the Ukrainian military. As well as help them make best use of existing units.
