It is the con where you can be in drag all the time, everywhere. You can then hang out and listen to people play music live, play some board games and generally enjoy the lovely surroundings.

As an asexual, I'm not anti sex, or prudish, just disinterested. But when people all around you are putting in so much work to express themselves sexually, being disinterested is kinda rude ;) And when you can't give people what they want, that slowly builds to a quiet, sad, alienation.

The highlight for me was setting up my little stall at the bring and buy - Not because I sold stuff, but because I got to talk to people about making things. After that, I got to go out in fursuit, which is always lovely. And catch up with friends But I was a bit at a loose end.

As an asexual mammal, a lot of people expressed surprise that I was at Pawsome. Well. Because nice people kept asking. Because I make and sell rubber stuff. Because I love the furry community and im supportive of peoples kinks. But, in all honesty, at heart, I didn't know why I was there either.

We may of wished for more memory, but us C64 nerds never once looked for another audio chip. We loved the Sid. It could sing, it could wail, it could make a huge WOOOAAAHHGG noise like the end of the freakin world :)

Sprites!? That was a custom graphics engine that ran on the character set... was awesome. Even though i could never do more than a couple dishes at a time. Juicing those eyeballs was murder and getting that bird to lay eggs in the frying pan not much better...

It's the 40th anniversary of the Trap Door. Part of my childhood and part of my DNA (the plasticine parts anyhow). It was endlessly visually interesting and had a very 80's theme tune which went unnecceceraly hard. For which there is apparently a music video, of sorts... youtu.be/ldlCD7GR2JI?...

Sorry for ducking out on people at pawsome. I discovered saturday night that you can puke so much from food poisoning your blood pressure crashes. So I had to go to hospital for a swift IV and a somewhat less swift 12 hours in the waiting room. The food poisoning had nothing to do with the con :)

Okay, maybe not unaffordable to most people. But the fact is I do make nonessential silly furry stuff. And it costs the same as serious stuff, like medical bills and car repairs. My idiot weasel brain obviously wants to price myself in happy rainbow dollars or skee-ball tickets…

The weirdest thing about being an artist is being financially insecure, constantly trying to make ends meet, and then having to turn around and price your work at the kind of premium rate most normal people can't afford. Like, I couldn't afford me.

Deepmind are busy pursuing a general AI based upon re-enforcement learning within synthetic environments. I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up leapfrogging LLM's and their 'unreasonable effectiveness'.

The thing with this datacentre goldrush is that if you want twice the processing power, you can just... wait 3 years for the normal upgrades in hardware. What's the bloody hurry? Their burning money and energy just to race to somewhere we would reach regardless in the normal course of time.

Something I do as well. It's also a good search term when your looking online for information from actual experts. Actual experts are equally dismayed by the current insanity, although often with a clarity of focus that makes you despair at how unnecessary all this unpleasantness is.

Oh, absolutely. They didn’t take a big swing at re-imagining it. It feels like they went through every location and item and recreated it to modern standards. Then put everything back in it’s place, where it mostly hangs together in a busy, shiny kinda way. It’s what people asked for, no more :)

Should be pointed out that playdate bans AI generated artwork, and is held up as a shining example of doing things RIGHT in this blog. Contrary to how it might appear at a glance, playdate duck is still a paragon of virtue, and still enjoying its delicious milkshake.

I'd like to be clear, we are talking thematically. Also, Buddy Isn't a costume performer. He's a magical unicorn. But he does get away with a lot he shouldn't. The gaslighting, bullying and lack of consent is a lot less Halloween appropriate than the axe murder.

Just a heads up that the title character of the horror movie 'Buddy' is a metaphor for all the squeaky clean celebrities working in childrens television that later turned out to be monsters. Before you get too invested in enjoying the pitch perfect character design. Maybe reconsider that cosplay ;)

Although I did also sustain minor brain damage. Always forget that part. Point is that worrying at about 30% power does the same amount of good for the world as when I worried at 200% In fact, it probably makes me more hopeful and likely to take positive action.

I was trying to explain to someone why I don't worry about the environment and world affairs as much as I used to. I realized the answer is "I worried so much I broke myself, had to have medical intervention. And now I've taken anxiety medication for 20 years." And I still worry... Just less :P

Im doing bare minimum - That is to say, 8 hours work a day, for 7 days. But I'm commuting from home and the con is basically a job I pay to attend. Your a veteran of this stuff. You don't need a big vertical slice of the furry community. Support a smaller con :)
