J&J is so fucking evil. I already knew that but I read this book earlier this year and seeing it all laid out was crazy.

I am reading Assata and sadly, not much has changed.

A screenshot from Ch.12 of Assata where she described what her mom experienced teaching. She said the principals were more worried about what was written in the plan books than what was being taught. She mentioned that white tracers were often hostile and condescending to her Black students. They thought of themselves more as zookeepers than teachers.

May whichever adult had the kids give these out to teachers always find the match to their socks. These put a smile on my face this morning.

Anywho, I am currently reading James by Percival Everett and I am loving it so much!! I highly recommend it. If you don't know, it is a reimagining of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the perspective of James/Jim

The world being a shit show this year really helped me develop better reading habits. I used to be a voracious reader then I just kind of stopped a few years ago. I read 47 books this year and 8 last year. I read some really good ones this year. Still might squeeze in one or two before the New Year

I came in to work grumpy this morning because it’s a long week and parent teacher conferences start tonight. My mood quickly changed when I came in to all of these notes from students on my door saying they appreciate me and love learning science with me. Now I’m 😭
