Here's a closeup of some of the new colors. Gilsonite is a natural source of asphalt and appears a dark reddish brown and is super translucent. PG23 is green earth and different sources each have a different character to them. They are dry and opaque when used. The bronze and gold have mica in them.

I photograph of 11 crayons I made. They are lined up on a table. They have names carved into the left side of each. They are named after the pigments used to make them. On the top are 3 that say gilsonite, followed by a D, M, and an L indicating that they have dense, medium, and light use of pigment in them (and they appear darker the more pigment used). They all appear nearly black.

Below that are 4 crayons that say PG23. This is a type of pigment made from green colored soil, called green earth. The top 2 also say ancient, and the one below says mix and finally the bottom says cypress. The names just indicate the different sources and that I mixed them together to make a blend between the two colors. They all appear muted earthy greens.

Lastly there are 4 crayons that are sparkly and iridescent. The top 2 say gilsonite bronze and the bottom two say gilsonite gold. These are a mix of gilsonite and different mica formulations.

I have now made over 230 colors of crayons! Even though I have so many colors it still feels like I have major gaps to fill in. I still have barely any greys, need more neutral reds, and more between yellow and greens. I'm happy with the colors between green and blue and blue and purple though.

Encaustic on black paper. I tried framing this one, the iridescence shows through the glass well, it also has mode depth behind glass when on the black paper.

I assembled a vest I'm calling my southwest vest. Its got national parks pins and deer pins. Many of the petroglyph pins are by Alice Seely.

Two images from Las Vegas Furcon 2025, the last hurrah at a room party before the end of the con. This was taken just before 2 am on Monday morning. I really like the call and response that took place in this moment, it was marked with a feeling in me of not wanting the con to end.

Here is an excerpt from my essay on furrycon room parties:

I managed to capture some of the celebration at the very end of the convention. These events are happening mere hours before the 11am checkout time on Monday Morning. A quite literal last hurrah of the night, a celebration to the inevitable end of the convention and the transformations that have happened.

The intense atmosphere of this moment stands with me. There was such a strong sense of the end, something this is encroaching. In the furry fandom this is called post con depression, it is a distinctly sad feeling, a pit in one's stomach, that is accompanied at the end of a furry convention. It is the feeling that you want this to last forever and you are faced with the inevitability that it must end. I find it amazing and quite interesting that there was a lingering sense at that moment to keep going as long as possible. We collectively avoid the tasks that are to come, we avoid the fact that this entire party space needs to be returned to the state of being a hotel room in just a few hours.

I made these deer hoofprint stamps last year. I just used them again to make some last min glaze tests. I'm going to use them to sign some of my work as well. Its funny, they weren't that interesting to me last year but since finding them again they seem all too perfect.

Is there such a thing as a furry musical instrument? These are experiments in making a 'growler' form that is a long tube. For lack of a better word I am calling these growlers for now, I'll come up with a better name soon.

I have been processing through photos I took this year. I plan to start posting them.

There is a DJ booth to the left and and several fursuiters dancing on the right.I do not know the identity of the people dancing. The photo is circular and has a warped perspective. This photo is a type of photo called a fisheye that has a warped perspective, it shows a very wide field of view that is collapsed into a circular image.

I uninstalled twitter on my phone today. I haven't used the app since downloading bluesky. I will keep my account for a bit longer but I'm feeling good about getting away from using it. Bluesky isn't perfect but it has been an improvement and good for my mental health.
