Well, after having my SV555 that's been on my pier since March when I bought it, I finally got first light. First sub in and it looks ok. I will say, I've been spoilt with mono cameras and using an old osc on this has made me appreciate how much easier mono processing is. #astrophotography #space

Just starting to get setup to, hopefully, live stream the partial solar eclipse from the UK. #astronomy #astrophotography #eclipse

Got some SHO data on the fish Head Nebula last night, really not feeling it with the processing on this one. Lost my mojo. If anyone fancies a pop at it message me for the raw stack. #astronomy #astrophotography #space

Pointed at the Andromeda Galaxy last night. The #touptek 585M does a great job and atm is my favourite camera but it needs to be paired with something wider than my 420mm triplet. I think an SQA55 or SV555 will be on my doorstep soon to do this camera justice. #astrophotography #space #andromeda

What a surprise. Trying out HDR mode on my #Touptek 585 mono and aimed at the squid nebula. Got 2 hours on each filter, Ha-Oiii-Sii and shocked with what I got. This is going to be my next project. I'll aim for 40ish hours with a bias towards the H and Oiii. #Astronomy #Astrophotography #Space

Really loving the nights getting longer. 5 good hours on the Cygnus Wall last night and a quick caffeine fuelled push through Pixinsight gets me this image. #Astronomy #Space #Astrophotography

Dr Zoidberg in the house. Last nights quick edit of the Lobster Claw Nebula. Little too much blue bleeding over but I'll sort that later. Just wanted to see what I could do over lunch. 5h SHO image. I did get some RGB stars that I might swap in later. #Astronomy #Space #Astrophotography

Tonight is looking nice and clear. Hopefully no high cloud turns up. Guiding looking good and first sub in. Off to bed for me. Have a great nice astro nerds. I'll push out a quick process in the morning. #Space #Astronomy #Astrophotography

Forgot I had this Crescent Nebula data from the other night. Again, most of the night lost to haze and high cloud but what's left goes in the bank for adding to the project. #astronomy #astrophotography #space

Couple of cups of coffee later and got rid of some green and the magenta stars. Won't spend much longer on it as it's only 2 hours of data. #astronomy #astrophotography #space #nebula

Battled with high level cloud last night but salvaged a couple of hours of data on the Wizard Nebula. Starting to look for a wider scope, eyeing up the Draco 62 or the SQA55. Any astro nerds out there got the Draco 62? #astronomy #astrophotography #space #nebula

Well, 3 out of the last 4 nights it's been clear enough to image the wonders of the heavens. Camera cooler is working overtime, hot out there. Anyway, first sub in so off to bed with a cider shandy with plenty of ice and a plan to watch episode 3 of Wednesday. Night all. #astronomy #astrophotography

3 hours last night imaging. Can't wait for the longer nights and more imaging time. Here is the Elephant Trunk Nebula. Need to grab some time getting some RGB stars tonight. #Astronomy #Astrophotography #Space

I went back to mono in March this year. Been a while as I switched to OSC quite a while ago as they were getting so good, but I have to say, I really do love the ease of mono processing. #astrophotography #astronomy #touptek

Only got a couple of hours on the Western Veil last night but pushed the little bit of data through Pixinsight. I'll add more soon and maybe even make a mosaic of it if I can be bothered. #astronomy #astrophotography

Well, after weeks of waiting. here at 50 degrees north there's finally enough darkness to make an imaging session worthwhile. So to welcome the dark I've gone to visit an old friend, The Western Veil Nebula. First sub in and it's good to be back at the pier. #astrophotograpy #touptek

Well I've really had enough of trying to get a satisfactory image of the Iris Nebula for a while. This one has beaten me for a while. Anyway, here is what 20ish hours of data and some hair loss during processing gets me. #astrophotography #astronomy #space #nebula #touptek

Got a couple of unexpected hours on the Iris Nebula last night. I'll add more with a few full nights coming up. Anyway, here is a quick process in Pixinsight. #Astrophotography #Touptek #Astronomy

Well, 4 nights on the Pinwheel Galaxy and had a play with SetiAstroSuite. Really not sure I've got the hang of it yet. 20ish hours of LRGB and got 4 hours of Ha to add at some point. #Astrophotography #Astronomy

Anthony @deepskydude.bsky.social · 10/04/2025

had a nice full night on the Pinwheel Galaxy last night and quickly had a play with the data while eating lunch, I'll have a better go after a few more hours data tonight. #astrophotography #astronomy

Anthony @deepskydude.bsky.social · 03/04/2025

The joys of waking up in the morning to find your imaging session died about an hour after you went to bed. Oh well, there will be other nights to add to the data. Anyway, tried a few different things with the 1.5h I got on the Monkey Head Nebula. Rough data so better to come. #Astrophotography

Anthony @deepskydude.bsky.social · 02/04/2025

Had some spare time today so had a better play with my Bodes/Cigar Galaxy image (M81/M82) Not a lot of data, 3.5 hours of LRGB+Ha. Happy with it so far, will add some more at another time. #Astronomy #Astrophotography

Ok AstroFam, just tried adding some Ha to my LRGB Bodes data and wondering if anyone has any good workflow tips for adding it. Just seems kinda saturated a little too much but don't want to dial the Ha down too much. #Astrophotography #Touptek #Skywatcher #Astronomy

Well it's Friday night and the skies are clear so it's party time in the astro world. First 180s Sii sub of the evening on the Jellyfish Nebula and looking ok. Hope it stays clear, got 5 hours until it dips too low and might shift to the Pinwheel Galaxy after. #Astrophotography #Astronomy

Anthony @deepskydude.bsky.social · 19/03/2025

Just pushed last nights data through pixinsight for a quick and dirty process. Alnitak ruined the image, well my Oiii filter did, massive halo and too frustrating to deal with so dynamic crop went to work. I'll play with it some more when I have time. #astrophotography

Getting a few house on the Horsehead Nebula before it ducks behind the horizon. Single Ha sub, raw and a denoised version. Wish my neighbours would move, and take their house with them. I want to shoot the Elephant Trunk. #Astrophotography

First mono processing in over a decade. Bodes and the Cigar galaxy, core blown out but happy with first proper night back with a mono camera. Only got a couple of hours LRGB, mostly G as the filterwheel usb fell out so lost 5 hours of clear skies. #astrophotography #astronomy #Touptek #Skywatcher

Anthony @deepskydude.bsky.social · 14/03/2025

this all over, but only when I post to BSky

100

Anthony @deepskydude.bsky.social · 14/03/2025

it only shows up when I post to BSky. I used the SA statistical stretch and NoiseX on the raw sub to create the jpeg. Nothing shows in PI or any pic viewer. Just wondered if BSky doesn't like greyscale jpegs. Here is a zoomed in grab from Bsky. Can you see the grid like pattern?

200

Anthony @deepskydude.bsky.social · 14/03/2025

Okay BSky and #astrophotography nerds. Why does Bsky introduce this pattern in my image when I post it. It's a single 60s Ha sub, stretched and denoised in Pixinsight and saved as a jpeg. Doesn't show up anywhere else.

192

Anthony @deepskydude.bsky.social · 13/03/2025

Wow, single 60s Ha on the Rosette with a denoise and stretch.

Well the bargain of the year turned up today. £650 early bird special for a cooled 585 mono camera, 8 position filter wheel and full set of LRGBSHO filters. All this was cheaper than a colour ZWO 585 on its own. #astrophotography #touptek #astronomy

Ok #Astrophotography nerds. Touptek has a pretty great offer on a bundle of the mono 585 camera, medium electronic filter wheel and full set of LRGBSHO filters. I really shouldn't have but it's my birthday soon so I treated myself. You can look forward to me bombarding you with Hubble palette images

Last night of imagining for a while, got days of rain on the way. Bloody cold last night and woke to find my front objective had frosted over sometime during the night so only got about 2 hours of data. Anyway, pushed it through #Pixinsight and got a semi-decent image of Orion. #Astrophotography

0283

Anthony @deepskydude.bsky.social · 07/01/2025

Had a few hours through the clouds the other night and snagged some time on the Triangulum Galaxy. Quick run through with Pixinsight and this is what I've come up with. #Astrophotography #Astronomy
