🌸 I am uncertain if it is fair to choose a favourite bird species when each one contributes something beautiful and breathtaking. With that in mind, I love, love, and love Chickadees! 🥰 Forgive the blurriness. Mobile cameras and I are mortal enemies. 😊

A recent photograph of our little plastic cylinder-shaped birdfeeder, a feeder which is one-third filled with sunflower seeds and corn. At the moment this photo was taken, the tiniest of Black-capped Chickadees with its black feather capped head, brown plumage, and white/grey underside is feasting on the feeder's seeds. It's head is inside of the cavity where the seeds are accessible. In the background, there are tall green conifer bushes.

🌸😢🥰 Today, my father said goodbye to his love, I said goodbye to my mother, & we both said goodbye to our best friend. At 94 yrs old & from the moment of her birth in Paros, Greece, as the first of 8 siblings to her life in Québec, my mother has lived a life full of changes. We love & miss her. 🌹

A 2025 photo of my mother and father in the kitchen working together on our little Christmas tree. It's a little faux tree which reminded us of the tree in A Charlie Brown Christmas. At this point in my mother's life she needed assistance to walk and numerous other necessities.

This is a photo of two scruffy folk, aka my mother before I had brushed her hair and me with a salt & pepper beard and (blush) a receding hairline. In this photo, my mother is tugging at my beard. In Greece, beards are so common. Yet, she never liked them. Along with many honouring my mother actions, I would shave it to make her happy.

This is one of the last photos that I was able to share with my mother of the nature that surrounds us. It is of our patio where on the railing two adorable grey squirrels are preening their tails while resting against each other. The following three days, my mother was unable to eat the pureed and baby food that she had only been able to eat up until then. And, my mother was unable to swallow water from the small eye-dropper that I was using.

Had the chance to visit RécréoParc in Sainte-Catherine, Québec. If you're ever near to Montréal or its South Shore, I highly recommend this walk for all the birds and rapids that you will see. Oh, there's a plump groundhog or two. This li'l Yellow Warbler was a joy to observe. I rarely see them. 🌸

It has black striping on its chest and dark streaks on its wings. The bright yellow colour is its most pronounced colour. Just caught a photo of a sunning local garden spider. They are breathtaking. She did not mind me getting up close. Spiders are one of my favourite organisms. They come a close 2nd to my love of cats. 🐈

🔥In & around Montréal, the hot days do not outnumber the colder days. With that in mind, these extreme humid ones are still difficult for us Winter beings. Today's temps are from 33°C to 36°C (91°F to 97°F). But, the challenge is the humidity which results in temps of 45°C to 46°C (113°F to 115°C).

We’re currently being pummelled by a snowstorm ❄️❤️ As a Winter being, my whole being is in a state of joy. This “no touchy” sign is from a nearby lake. Mind you, the ice is about 50cm (1’6”) thick. Hibernating turtles are safe. 🍓🐢

Over the past week, I’ve been staying inside. What’s missed are moments like this chance meeting with an adorable frog while on an evening walk at Parc de la Cité. We may lack a common language for communicating, yet there were a few moments of recognizing each other’s presence. I’m good with that.🥰

There’s a delicate balance between local wildlife. As like with the pace of those who win hotdog eating contests and moments after we fill our feeders, sparrows are as powerful as Dyson vacuums. Just below, a squirrel is benefiting from a sparrow’s nibbling imperfections. Many uneaten seeds fall. 😋

Unexpected expenses. ❤️‍🩹 While wiping our kitchen table, my little brain, the klutz enabler that it is, sent my glasses crashing to the kitchen tiles. One moment is all it takes for an expensive unexpected expense to manifest. Sigh. At the very least, I’ll have my eyes checked. It’s been far too long.

2nd day of 2024. From my little corner of the universe, this year appears to be mirroring 2023. A little part of me is hopeful that as a year closes, so do some of the difficulties that it was host to. But, that is me being a wishful thinker. Suffering does not end simply by willing it. Nope. Nope.

Whether it is their odours/scents or due to the the feel of its many surfaces or due to numerous other identifying marking, foliage of all ilk is a joy to explore.
