Just a small family of gnomes. Pattern by Tracey Phillips. Any flaws are entirely me.
Crocheted gnomes that will sit in the palm of your hand. They have white beards and hats of various colours and small wooden bead noses. They can hang on a Christmas tree. Also seen a small crocheted octopus hanging onto a red and green crocheted Christmas ball. One gnome is sitting slightly to the side as though he doesn't want to be included in the photo.

There are no yummy bugs on the power pole but he keeps trying.
Pretty massive red headed woodpecker on our power pole. Cedar trees in the background. We have a couple pairs of woodpeckers every year but usually they are smart enough to go for our dead tree. My parents used to have one that pecked at their metal chimney so I guess a telephone pole is better than that.

I made a big fat wizard froggie. His stars glow in the dark. Pattern from CloverCrochet. Any imperfections are my own not the pattern.
Stuffed green crocheted frog with a blie wizard hat and cape. The cape has yellow star shaops that glow in the dark because even though the world kinda sucks sometimes there is still cool stuff. The cape is soooo soft and the whole thing is so squishy to hug. Don't tell my son. It's for Christmas because he loves wizards and he loves frogs and he still gets stuffies because I'm his mom and because he is an elementary school teacher and the students love it. Also he gets stuffies because he has 2 blackbelts and who is going to tell him he can't have a stuffy wizard frog?

Ozzie says happy Saturday and wants you to enjoy some sights from her walk
Evergreens, mostly cedars but also fir and hemlock as well as lower things like fern and nurse trees. Sun shining through with blue sky. Chocolate lab walking along a wood path made to easily cross a small marshy area at the bottom of a forest floor. Lots of green stuff (trees and shrubs not swamp things) Sturdy wooden bridge to cross a creek. Chocolate lab giving me the "walk now, photos later" look while in the middle of the bridge. The wood is new wood colour as it has recently replaced the old bridge. Lots of trees. All of is dappled in sun shining through Small creek nearly hidden by lush native plant species. Trees on either side. Mostly evergreens but some maples too. Sun shining though the gap in the trees made by the creek. This is a salmon bearing creek farther down, they don't come up this far but it is treated as though they do because all water is connected. We are fortunate to have so many spaces like this where we live.

It's kind of cool to grab an apple off your tree as you head out for a walk or an errand. Today we had to pick them all though because we saw the bear and had to harvest them before he did.
Red apple. Green leaves. It is shiny and delicious. No pesticides or fertianers other than last year's apples we shook off the tree and left for critters or to decompose back into the soil. 2 red apples with green leaved and some rain drops. They don't all look perfect like this. The kids sort them into Grade A, Grade B and Roll them down the driveway to see who can get them under the gate and acroos the road. The bear. He is brown but he is a black bear if that makes sense. Pretty common around here and why we keep our garbage, etc in secure sheds and our car doors locked. He doesn't have a driver's license but he does like to chevk for granola bars in unlocked cars. We don't see him in our yard much, he prefers the neighbours with now dog and no fence but since the apples are ripe he was snooping around.

When you've had a bath and just can't get that Clean Dog smell off your fur.
Chocolate lab pushing her snout and shoulder along the ground with her hind quarters in the air. Don't worry, she chose the area of lawn with the best chance of getting dirt back in her fir. Her ear is flopped up mid whipparound. Trees amd greenery in the background.Same dog going the other direction in the same pose. This will go on about 20 minutes or so. She was a good girl for her bath and got lots of treats. Side note, watering lawn in the summer is frowned upon here and she chose the part of our yard with the most direct sunlight to make the most of the brownest grass to get as much dirt picked up as possible. Fortunately her water resistant outer coat doesn't swiffer as well as she'd like. You can see she didn't choose the area of our yard with less direct sunlight that stays green all year. That would have a lower roll to dirt ratio.

Sitting in my wingback chair that I bought because it seemed like something my granny would have liked, reading a book and eating peanut butter pie (think tiger butter taste) off a bamboo kids' plate because I'm bougie like that.
Graham crust, cheesecake like filling, choclate ganauche on top with a few peanuts. Blue plate with a mouse on it and it says cheese please. I have no little kids but some of my friends do so I keep a set around. They're also great for taking back and forth to the patio because they don't break but to be honest it isn't as if we're juggling or especially clumsy with our other plates when we take them outside and if they land on our hardwood flooring they'd fare no better than landing on the deck outside but I never claimed to make sense. Except that earlier post about high heels in the house being nonsense. I stand by that.

Mug from the Book Corner at Guildford mall. It is a cool set up with comfy chairs set to look like a bougie den or library where all proceeds from books and bookish merch go to the Surrey Firefighters' library & literacy initiatives. Naturally we had to buy books and stuff. 📚📖
Glass mug filled with oolong tea. It says "Treat your shelf" on it in white lettering. Also an outline of an open book in white.

This amazing quilt is hanging at our library right where you sign out books. Even the names on the spines are embroidered.
1.5m x 2m approx, maybe larger I didn't measure. That would have been weird, even for me. Hanging on a grey wall. The quilt looks like a loaded book shelf with many books, a clock, a fruit bowl and dragon flies. Many of the names on the spines of the books are people who made donations to the library. It looks like a painting and is lovely

That's dirty pool Betty Crocker. We know where you're made. Not today, Betty. Not today.
Betty Crocker's cake mix box showing a circle with 2 small maple leaves and a #1 and Canada in capital letters. In smaller font it says "selling cake brand". It is meant, I am fairly certain, to mimic the Maple Leaves and Canada flags appearing on items made in Canada or packaged in Canada that have become prominent on our grocery items lately as we start to pay more attention to the country of origin of products we purchase. Until recently, I never paid attention to where my deodorant came from. Some Canadians are looking for exclusively Canadian products, others are looking for not only Canadian products but also products from other parts of the world farther afield than we would have before (I like this option for reasons too lon to elaborate on here). There is a whole wide world of great stuff out there I hadn't previously explored. Some of us are just business as usual. To each their own. But Betty, you aren't fooling anyone. And I make cakes from scratch anyway, Betty.

At the public library today and they have a tribute to Dolly. Apparently some items had alread been borrowed since the display went up.
A honey coloured wooden book shelf decorated with pearls and some teardrop shaped prisms (the most sparkle the library could come up with on short notice with zero budget) and some of Dolly's movies, music and various books by her or about her or inspired by her. The top shelp has a page sized printed poster in pink with a kiss on it that reads The Queen of Country Dolly Parton. Even the library misses you, Dolly

I found these for my son to use in his classroom library so his students can borrow his books old school style. Of course I had to explain to him what they were first.
1 package of envelopes to be glued into the front of a book and one packape of the sign out cards they used to ise in libraries, the kind with spots for title, author, borrower's name and date. Back when people used to write things instead of just scan them and you could see the borrowing history of the book.

Bunches of small purple grapes and a bunch of green grape leaves. I planted the grape vines 5 years ago because I love the vines and the side effect is loads of grapes. Who knew? So now our garden shed and our batting cage are covered in grapes which it turns out can be used to make jelly which is delicious and suprisingly easy to make.

I think my orchid has alien probes 👽🌺
Green, snakelike probes coming out of a white plant pot. Some dead petals that have fallen off the beautiful flowers. The flowers are clearly a diversion from the sinister probes. Now that I look with an open mind, the flowers themselves have a vaguely Micheal Bay Decepticon face.White orchids looking beautiful and innocent but are they innocent? I am not so sure. Upside, they have comeback 3 years in a row. Or possible downside now that I see the alien probes they are hiding.

@thehemicane.bsky.social Cole was wearing a hat for a few minutes yesterday and it made me think of Hemi
Black short haired cat sitting on a foot stool. He is wearing a blue hat kind of shaped like a traffic cone. It is crocheted and for a gnome I am making. And yes, those are Skylander stickers on the shelving unit in the background. If your children are the right age to have experienced Skylanders, you will recognize these stickers. If your children had a grandmother that made it her mission to make sure her grandsons had as many Skylanders as possible (one each because they carried the saved game data and who wants to use his brother's Eyebrawl game data?), then you will also have crates of these things somewhere in your house because they still get played for Nastalgia purposes. And Robin Hood is kickin it in the background too

My boy Kirby. I used the round cushion pattern from Yarnspirations for the circle and then made up the feet, arms and face based on suggestions from my kids.
Pink, circular, crocheted throw pillow about 35cm in diametre. It has triangleish blob shaped flippers (or arms, not sure if Kirby has arms or flippers), red round shoes (more cylindrical actually but you can't tell from this angle), rosey cheeks (very important to Mr Dee that they weren't forgotten), a smiley mouth and oval black eyes with white circles at the top and blue not circles but I don't know what that shape would be called at the bottom. I made the appendages up myself and didn't write it down so they don't match because I couldn't remember exactly what I did from one to the other. I was inspired to make him because a pack of 6 pillow inserts was marginally more expensive than one so when I made the baseball pillow for which I needed one I then had to come up with an additional 5 designs. Necessity being the mother of invention or buying a 6 pack being the mother of "Holy crap, what will I do with 5 more pillows?" Now you know.
He is sitting on an old leather chair I snatched when my dad was getting rid of it

I am a sucker for a well lit path at dusk.
Path leading down to the beach (beach not shown) but it could be leading sonewhere magical with fairies and small dragons who like biscuits because all eodded paths can lead there. Wooden fence helping hold up the bank on the left and wooden railing stoppibg folks from tumbling off on the right. Various sorts of trees growing up on either side and meeting in the middle. Really, if you're quiet you might hear the magical creatures, if you're not as quiet you'll still hear the seagulls letting you know they are there.

Bunch of orange/yellow/red snap dragons bursting out of a crack between my pavers. They look ready to burst into song Disney style at any moment. Cedar fence post in the background, concrete paver in the foreground. When I tun my back I'm pretty sure I hear a tiny chorus. Blue adorondak style chair with a Mary Poppins mug of tea. A Disney plate that had toast (I can make you more and probably round up a blackberry scone) and a book open on a planter. Several shrubs and 2 trees immediately surrounding the chair with a small, wine barrel (did they move the comma on this ohine keyboard) a small red out building and more trees in the background. A hummingbird is humming around, a rooster is off in the distance doing his thing and several local birds are sharing their thoughts. Oh, the other neighbour's rooster just joined the chorus.

My son went to some sort of nerd* convention and brought me home this Pikmin 😍 *nerd is a term of endearment in our house & is not meant with any disrespect & encompasses many forms of media, sports, cars & IP fandom
Yellow crocheted or maybe knitted Pikmin. It looks a bit like a teletubby with 2 eyes and a kind of teardrop shaped head. The tip of the teardrop is elongated and droping with a flower on it. If you have never played/experienced Pikmin, you have missed out on a warm, sweet hearted experience. And they are so cute trooping around in their little cooperative groups. We could learn a lot from Pikmins. I'm not sure the correct term for many Pikmin. This one about 15cm tall.

I am not sure how many postie duties he actually performs but judging by his tummy he does not serve in the position of actually walking to any mail boxes. If you can't plant a tree, plant a lavender plant. They thrive in pots or in the ground, are drought tolerant, the polinators love them and you can make tea out of them.
Large lavender plant with many purple blossoms, green leaves and a bee. I get so many bees and butterflies around my lavender plants and my son uses them to make tea - the plants not the bees and butterflies, that would just be wrong. And gross. This particular plant is in tje ground and nearly 1m across. I have smaller, tamed ones in planters on my deck.

🧵Hey lovely people. Big announcement today. We're launching an indie writing con based in Nelson New Zealand and Online in September & October 2026. So many awesome events, including in-person and online Tiny Moments workshops. beautifulwords.net
Short description: You're looking at an image of a sun drenched beach at low tide with a table featuring a typewriter on it in the foreground. The words Beautiful Words, An Indie Writing Con Based in Sunny Nelson, New Zealand & Online, 1 September - 10 October 2026 are superimposed over the sand and sky above the typewriter and table. Longer description. The table's covered in a red and white check table cloth, hand sewn and if you zoomed in you'd see that I am an anarchist who does not care about snipping loose threads. There's a cup of black tea in a vintage blue and white china cup, the sort your nan might have owned, and some biscuits on the saucer under the cup. They're an anzac biscuit and a fairy biscuit, which is essentially sprinkles on icing on a sweet bikkie. The typewriter on the table is green and quite stylish. This is a typewriter you could take to a fancy dinner and it wouldn't be out of place. There's also a small white tea pot on the table, a shell and a small purple vase with a wayward bit of greenery sticking out of it. In front of the table is a stool with a retro black and white cushion on it. Why is this table at the beach? Ask the batty author who lugged it there a month ago in a beach wagon and they won't quite be able to tell you. But you can definitely picture that author munching on a biscuit or ten while taking this picture. The beach is sprawling, the sky a brilliant clear blue and there are mountains in the background because it is New Zealand and those suckers lurk everywhere. The writing superimposed over the top is in orange and blue. The overall vibe is an author who's sorted a writing con for the past three months and isn't quite sure what sane is anymore. Why else would they lug a typewriter, a tea set, a teapot and biscuits to the beach? Maybe they need another one of those biscuits. They're rather delicious. Especially the anzac ones.

Because doesn't everyone have a Monster Hunter action figure joining them for dinner and pulling up a 118 year old copy of a Washington Irving novel to get comfy?
Spikey looking mainly blue armoured humanoid figure sitting politely with his hands on his knees as though he is about to join the conversation. He sits atop a burgundy book with gold lettering that is on top of another book. West Coast Seeds catalogue under those. This chap has been chillin' there for about a week now. Middle son cleaned the kitchen and set him up all dignified like. Youngest son will eventually take him to the shelf where he belongs (the action figure, not his brother) but probably not until we have company over, but fancy company, not my aunt who is visiting tomorrow, she'd be offended if he was put away for her visit.
