Here's a look at the Misfits of Oz pride variant cover I made for kickstarter backers. The illustration is in the back of all the digital copies I sell, but you don't get to see the logo treatment there.

Misfits of Oz Dorothy wearing a Bi pride crop top, pan pride jacket, and purple plaid pants. The bi and pan colors swirl in a cyclone behind her.

When the identification is missing, as it is in the date link, I'm guessing it's treating the page as part of a large uncategorised collection. Probably not an issue in most circumstances, but could be a problem for new readers quickly looking to read from the start.

Just checked. It appears to still be occurring. From the archive or "Comic Series" selections, it seems to treat the series as their own pools, but clicking the date treats all comics as a pool. The difference seems to be the "series"/"sid" identification in the url.

Treats every comic on the site as a massive pool:

Comic series link:

https://mleelunsford.com/series/the-magical-misfits-of-oz/

Links in comic series(treats comics as separate pools):

One thing about the page, unrelated the comic content. When I access Misfits from the site main page First/Back travel to the start of the comic. From the link in this post(the date link, apparently) Back goes to the title page, then the latest page of Nix, First goes to the start of Supernormal.

And then your very limited use of grey among black and whites toward the bottom, as well as differing forms of shading patterns/styles... makes the bottom feel more real, and draws eye to the Main Character. I'm excited.

Love the contrast, the atmosphere, the weight. The feel of the choice of where to put heavy black, spatter over narrow gaps or none at all but still leave you feeling the shape of the funnel. Outstanding.

CONTINUED, The Boy From Venus #15 🍄

Panel 1: Audrey and Val are facing one another on the river bank, seemingly in the late afternoon. They're wearing their last respective outfits from the previous episode. Audrey is saying "Well, you live right near the corner store, right? I was thinking, when I get off work ... I could bring over some snacks and we could watch a movie or something."

Panel 2: Val has a strained expression and starts sweating, sucking in her lips, like she is trying really hard to decide what to say.

Panel 3: Audrey holds his hands up and says "Okay, yep, no. That's definitely the NO face. Say no more!"

Panel 4: Val looks to the side with a strained, nervous expression, replying "No, no, Audrey, it's just, I don't think my apartment is ... Ready for visitors."

Panel 5: Audrey tilts his head and asks "Oh? What's up with it?" as Val turns her head away from his, sweating.

Panel 6: Val says "UH," rapidly swinging her head back to face Audrey but with his eyes lagging to the side, giving her time to think.

Panel 7: Val recalls her room, which is an absolute mess, empty pizza boxes, trash bags, socks, unopened mail, miscellaneous chargers, and stains littering the floor. The mattress has no cover, the trash bin is overflowing, and there's a single sound insulating foam panel on the wall behind the computer monitor. A sound of a fly buzzing emanates through the room.

Panel 8: "Black mold," replies Val, finally looking directly at Audrey.

Panel 9: Audrey suddenly leans close to Val and balls his hands with a worried expression, yelling "BLACK MOLD?? Val, you CAN'T BE LIVING THERE!!" Val leans back a bit.

Panel 10: Val gives a thumbs up and a close-eyed nervous smile, saying "No no it's okay. I like ... wear a mask."

Panel 11: Audrey has a comedically sad expression, like a toddler who got told that magic isn't real. Water eyes, tensed chin, as if about to cry.

Panel 12: Val, by contrast, just has her brow furrowed in slight annoyance, asking "What."

Panel 13: Audrey, still watery-eyed, begins speaking in a baby talk voice, saying "My besht fwiend's wivving wiz bwack mowod."

Panel 14: Fisheye lens closeup of Val looking very unamused, brow still furrowed, the setting sun casting a hard shadow on half of the face. She says "Audrey. Audrey you know I hate the V-tuber baby voice."

Panel 15: Audrey raises his head and begins saying into sky, "OOWOWW DA BWACK MOWD IS" and Val interrupts him, hands together in a pleading gesture and eyes shut tight, saying "OKAY OKAY I'll call a mold specialist TODAY. And we can hang out tomorrow. No more ear terrorism."

Panel 16: With her hands still together, Val looks down towards the ground, her pupils hazy, as a bead of sweat rolls down her face. "God I am so f*cked," she thinks.

I tend to overthink a lot IRL(which bleeds into my characters), and I also prefer to think everyone I meet is smarter than they appear. Thinking someone is dumb just seems mean, and a good way to get caught off guard. Different people are smart in different ways(this also bleeds into my characters)

000

LetDddraw! @deedraw.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

TBH, I do actually have a lot of "brawn" type characters, but they are more found in my "battle anime" or superhero-type stories(though those still feature intelligent characters) I love intentionally "stupid" characters, but I struggle with writing characters who "aren't intelligent" without cause
