I went through it. I am decades out and still healing. There is no version of this where a child was old enough. I wrote my whole life down for my three grown kids. This is part of what is in it. The book is Falling Together: In Pieces. amazon.com/dp/B0H93G629N

Before 2018 it was legal in all 50 states. Only 17 have banned it outright since. Three still set no minimum age at all: California, New Mexico, Mississippi. Last week a bill landed in Congress to help change that. H.R. 9758 and S. 5060. No hearing scheduled yet. #ChildMarriagePreventionAct

Color coded map of the United States showing the youngest age at which a person can legally marry under each state's statute. Seventeen states and Washington DC require a person to be 18. Eight states allow 17. Twenty states allow 16. Kansas and Hawaii allow 15. Three states set no minimum age at all: California, New Mexico and Mississippi. Source: Unchained At Last.

I was forced to marry as a child. One state said no. My mother found a state that said yes. It is still legal in most of this country. #EndChildMarriage #ChildMarriage #ForcedMarriage #SurvivorStory 🌻 #FallingTogetherInPieces

A torn-out notebook page lying on a warm wood table, beside the brass base of a lamp. Handwritten in dark script: "The marriage was forced. The groom was chosen." Then, in red: "I was a child;" ending in a semicolon rather than a period, for the Semicolon Project. To the right of the page, a folded teal bandana and a folded purple bandana, both paisley. An engagement ring with a large clear stone rests on the teal one. A single dried yellow petal lies against the edge of the paper. Along the bottom: Falling Together: In Pieces, and OwlBones.com.

Here's the whole quilt as it hangs in my sewing room 😁 My favorite fabric butterfly ;)

The full quilt that appears on the book cover, photographed hanging on a wall. On a mottled gray and white background fabric, an appliquéd butterfly with stained-glass style wings in reds, oranges, purples, blues, and greens rises from a quilted figure of a woman curled on her knees, head down, her hair in a brown bun. The quilt is bound in black and was pieced and quilted by the author from the Metamorphosis pattern by Veruschka Zarate.

Pattern credit where it's due: the quilt is sewn from the "Metamorphosis" pattern by Veruschka Zarate of Pride & Joy Quilting. My thanks to every pattern maker who hands a quilter a place to start. 🌻

I pieced/quilted the quilt on the cover of my first book. A full life memoir, birth to fifty-five, written to my three grown kids. Paperback and Kindle on Amazon. 💙📚 #Quiltsky #Memoir #IndieAuthor amazon.com/dp/B0H93G629N

My interpretation of the "Alaska" quilt pattern by "Laundry Basket Quilts". All fabrics from my stash. I've had the pattern for several years now so I'm pretty stoked that I finally put it together 😁

Alt text written by A.I.
A handmade quilt top called Alaska designed by Laundry Basket Quilts, pieced by DeeDee Maker. The quilt features intricate eight-pointed star and diamond patterns in rich shades of gold, brown, and cream, arranged in a symmetrical layout. A narrow dark inner border and a mottled golden outer border frame the luminous design, giving it a warm, autumnal glow.

Oh I love it!! Great work! (I've been collecting all the kerchiefs that come with my partner's ties cuz he doesn't use them). Love what you did 💙👍

This concept would make a great gift/gift tag idea as well with themed fabric ... love your heart and your quilted hearts 🍺

I keep telling myself I'm going to learn to do the same but have not yet given it a try.... it's on my list though!

Ohhhh I love this idea..... I may have to try it myself 😁 Love your hand work 💙

Especially when we have a government more into the money than the people...

A yellow-orange infographic with a black-bordered two-column table titled “ACTION” and “WHAT IT DID.” The table lists four rows:

1. One Big Beautiful Bill Act — Initially attempted to ban state AI regulation for 10 years, but that provision was removed before final passage.

2. EO 14179 (Jan 2025) — Revoked prior AI oversight rules to clear the way for aggressive AI innovation.

3. ‘Preventing Woke AI’ EO (July 2025) — Imposed ideological neutrality mandates for AI systems used by the federal government.

4. TAKE IT DOWN Act — Enacted federal law against non-consensual intimate AI-generated images.

Found a surprise art show at the fishing hole this morning 🎣✨ Hearts, stars, and smiles carved right into the earth. Nature’s canvas, human touch. #FoundArt #StreetArt #ArtEverywhere #SimpleJoys #ArtSky

Drawings traced into sandy ground: a smiling face with rays like a sun, a heart, a five-point star, a house with windows and a door, a mushroom-shaped figure, and what looks like a birthday cake with candles. The sketches are childlike and scattered across the dirt, giving the impression of playful, temporary art left behind.

A tip for the sharp tips 🪡 I often pin bias binding rather than pressing it in half, prior to attaching, and this works well for that! Originally published in Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting, September/October 2009 issue #quilting #sewing #pinsafety

Close-up photo of a sewing pin stuck through yellow fabric with large white polka dots. The pin has a small silver earring back on the sharp end Below the photo is a tip titled “Pin Safety.” The text explains that using earring backs on directional pins can prevent accidental pin sticks and keep pins securely in place until quilt rows are joined. Tip submitted by Joyce McCutcheon of Hohenwald, Tennessee.

These three feathered friends love your heart and your sentiment

Watercolor illustration of three birds side by side, each labeled beneath. On the left is a Flicker, a woodpecker with speckled plumage, a red patch on its head, and black markings. In the center stands a Dodo, a plump, extinct bird with a curved beak and small wings, set against a soft shoreline background. On the right is a Titmouse, a small bird with blue and yellow coloring perched on a leafy branch. Together, the first letter of each bird name creates -->> FDT
