I picked Cai first as I’d always intended to since first seeing the four lords, but it was a harder choice than I thought it’d be. I like Tialla, but Peter’s kinda bland. Ultand is great though! I think I might switch things up to do Theodora last instead of Dietrich, not because I think I’ll like Dietrich more, but because I think Theodora’s will be a nice climactic way to end part 1.

I’m so pleased they made guest characters split their EXP with the rest of the normal party, it actually makes me happily use them rather than try to steal any kills they might get like in Three Houses.

The interactions between Cai’s family felt really awkwardly done in the story, but at the very least I like both parents and I’m excited to see where the path goes with this fight in the Heroic Games.

You don’t understand how happy I am to hear Saint Cichol narrating the game… such a pleasant surprise. Speaking of surprises…

SETETH?! SETETH IN FW?! My favorite character of Three Houses is back???? I never saw it coming & I absolutely need him!

So far my recruitment plans for Cai’s path are Seteth, Ninae, Nydine, Loretta, and Ultand. Recruitment seems a bit more restrictive in this game compared to 3H, at least while I don’t have much gold for gifts.

And I don’t really like the turns system for mid-chapter exploration, it’s kinda frustrating trying to uncover the map with limited turns and not really understanding the system. And if I do find a shop with cool items, I have no money. And then I have to find my way back to the capital if I want to complete weekly tasks!

Final note, my Mediator design for Eshmel. I went for a pretty standard look based on the customization: sticking with the white hair seemed pretty thematic for the design, and the default hair looked best. Though I want to try on with the ponytail in a different color eventually. I felt happiest with this skin tone for her.

Went with this costume because it was the right combination of showing skin at the thighs without the rest of the outfit looking too oddly revealing. But also mesh stomach window.

Side note, Fortuna snark with Eshmel is fantastic. Progenitor God do I love the Sothis-Byleth dynamic.
