There is absolutely no reason for any trans person to give Democrats cover to abandon full trans equality on any issue, in any region, in any race, to even the tiniest iota.

“Obama was opposed to gay marriage, give it time, don’t seek perfection on trans issues from Dems.” Yeah, but gay marriage was a new right LGBT people were seeking. Sports, bathrooms, and IDs are something trans people have had for decades. Going BACKWARDS Is the opposite of the Obama comparison.

I sure would like to watch the #HomeRunDerby tonight considering it's in my team's ballpark. I'm sure as hell not going to order Netflix to watch it. Smooth move, MLB, limiting viewing access to this event.

I remember North Carolina having to back off its bathroom bill after a concerted pushback and its been wild to witness the wholesale abandonment since.

The fact that the #Phillies pinch hit a .207 hitter for their cleanup man (and Bryce Harper's "protection" in the lineup) with the bases loaded and one out, ending in a strikeout and ultimately no runs scored, shows how egregiously flawed their roster construction is. It's just gross.

More trans polling. Competent framing matters. Focus on real problems, not dividing people over trans: 86/10 (Change Research, Nov ‘24) Elected official that speaks up on trans issues vs ignoring them: +61 with Dems, +9 with Independents (Jacobin/@dataforprogress.org, Sept ‘25)

In case you've ever wondered what it's like to be trans in 2026: friends are texting each other today to be safe again, as we do every week, because the richest man in the world is yet again boosting false claims that neo-Nazis who attacked the Mosque were trans and there's a conspiracy to hide it.

#Sixers on Amazon tonight. Welp, that's another game I would have watched had it been on just about anywhere else. Bravo, NBA. What people most want during the playoffs is to not be able to see their home team play on any standard channel. 🙄

Essie @decenttweaks.bsky.social · 28/04/2026

On the #Phillies firing Rob Thomson... This is bound to fix their severe lack of talent in their lineup. I'm sure this will also fix all their horrendous contracts too. 🙄

The NBA is so problematic. I resign myself, after having enough of the slop the Phillies are doling out, to watch the #Sixers play-in game, so I go to put it on but it's on Prime (which I don't have because F Amazon). Welp, they lost a set of eyes on their product, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Unpopular Opinion: The second side of U2's "Joshua Tree" album is better than its first side. (You know, back when albums had "sides")

As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.

1. The New York Times, unsurprisingly, has released yet another hit piece on transgender people. This time, it comes from Jesse Singal. I fact check it in my latest piece. End your NYT subscription, and put it towards people doing good work on the issue. Subscribe to support our journalism.

There seems to be a lot of discussion about Gavin Newsom today. I wanted to re-share this piece that I wrote, because I have a lot of center-to-left Dems that follow me that want to understand. There are very good reasons transgender people do not like Gavin Newsom.

Why Transgender People Are Not Feeling Gavin Newsom

Crying every day at the state of the world should not be a normal thing. But, I mean, look at where we're at. Shit is utterly horrific. If you're not upset, you're truly not paying attention.

Essie @decenttweaks.bsky.social · 27/01/2026

The sheer, abject cruelty is horrific enough, but the sickening, ardent defense and celebration of the cruelty by a certain segment of our society is what truly disgusts me, brings me to frustrated tears, and makes everything seem utterly fucking hopeless.

I know the writing was on the wall, but damn am I going to miss Ranger Suárez being with the #Phillies. (I'm pretty sure the Phillies are going to miss him too.) I'm happy that he got paid and landed in a good spot (and not in the National League).

Of course I was at the stupid doctors for my stupid knees and missed the last song I was going to hear from my list (and I only had two make it 😭). Stupid getting old and stupid knees ruin so much! 🙃 Also, The Sundays are still very much one of my favorite bands. I simply adore them. #XPNCountdown

A bunch of "This Must Be the Place" covers. I also picked a version of it as my number 1 song, but it's not going to make the #XPNCountdown because the artist is pretty obscure. So, just know that however many covers we hear of this song, there's at least one more good version out there. 😊

I was holding out hope with some of the 10,000 Maniacs' b-side covers that made the list that my pick for them ("Every Day Is Like Sunday") had a sliver of a chance to make the countdown. But now that we're at "Peace Train," that fleeting hope can be put to bed I think. #XPNCountdown
