Community media grows through connections: a storyteller meets a producer, a group finds a reporter or two people realise they are working on the same problem. What connection would help your idea move forward? #CommunityMedia #Collaboration

Who gets to shape radio’s future? A sustainable, diverse media system needs room for community stations, independent voices and new entrants. The Radio Review must hear from them before decisions are made. #BetterMedia #RadioReview bettermedia.uk/why-a-sustai...

Is digital radio really diversifying UK radio, or just multiplying outlets for the same providers? We need evidence on ownership, costs, licence use, spectrum and new entrants before the Radio Review sets the next policy framework
decentered.co.uk
Radio Review – Diversification, Spectrum and the Missing Supply-Side Question
The current debate about the future of UK radio is increasingly being shaped by questions of distribution, connected devices, audience behaviour and the relationship between DAB, IP and analogue broadcasting. A wide range of generally available industry forecasts and audience data point in broadly the same direction: radio remains widely used, digital listening continues to grow, DAB remains significant, and analogue listening is becoming progressively less important. That should lead to a wider question: What kind of radio system should these technologies support? This is not simply about whether existing radio services survive technological change.

Do you work in community media, libraries, education, health, arts, heritage or civic services? Help shape the Foundational Media conversation by taking part in the Decentered Media Podcast and sharing what communities need from their media
decentered.co.uk
Foundational Media – Why Your Experience Belongs in the Decentered Media Podcast
Foundational Media starts with a straightforward idea. Communities need dependable ways to share knowledge, interpret events, represent their experiences and take part in public life. These communicative resources are not an optional addition to civic life. They belong alongside libraries, schools, health services, arts centres, museums, sports facilities and other forms of social infrastructure that help people live well together. This is why the Decentered Media Podcast is interested in hearing from more than media specialists. Experience gained in community radio, local publishing, podcasting or neighbourhood reporting is clearly relevant. So is experience from adult education, public health, libraries, housing, arts and heritage, youth work, community development, voluntary organisations and local public services.

Volunteer With the Evington Echo – Help Share the Stories of Our Community
Every neighbourhood has stories that deserve to be heard. They might begin with someone organising a local activity, a resident sharing a memory, a young person trying something new, or volunteers caring for a familiar place. Helping these stories reach others is a practical way to strengthen the connections between people. Volunteering with the Evington Echo offers an opportunity to be part of that work. Whether your interests lie in editorial work, design, reporting, distribution or organising things behind the scenes, your contribution can help people discover more about Evington and feel part of its shared life.

Building Foundational Media Through Practical Conversations
Producing a neighbourhood magazine means finding stories, supporting contributors, checking information and getting each edition into readers’ hands. Keeping a community radio station going means bringing people together, developing their skills and finding dependable resources. These everyday demands have helped ground our recent Media Exchange and Community Media Café conversations about Foundational Media. The central question is practical: what would help people develop and sustain media that serves their communities? Foundational Media gives us a way to connect that question with a wider argument about public life. It describes the information, relationships, skills and opportunities for participation that communities need to understand themselves and shape their future.
