Sad to have missed being at a No Kings rally, but happy for Grace to have repped both the mastiff breed & Keller at the 6th AKC Fast CAT Invitational in Wilmington, OH last week. She's gotten older, heavier, & slower (haven't we all!) but still loves to chase that "bunny". (Trump sucks. Fuck ICE.)

In other news, I finally had several of my photographs printed and I've entered them in the annual community art show in my city: Keller's Got Talent. The show isn't until October, but I didn't know what lead times for all of this would be. First time showing - I'm excited!

Here's what I said at the meeting last night.

Mayor and council. My name is Debbie Wolfe. I live at ... in Keller. I have been a resident and voter in this city for over 15 years. Over that time, I’ve agreed with some city actions and disagreed with others. I cannot express how much I disagree with the proposal to implement a 287(g) program in the City of Keller.

This is an extraordinarily bad time in the history of our country to fall in with an administration that exhibits little regard for the law and the Constitution, that deploys a militarized domestic police force to conduct warrantless sweeps, arrest immigrants whether or not they have a criminal history or are legally in the country, terrorize families, communities, and workplaces, threaten to disrupt industries, violate individuals’ rights to due process, and incarcerate people in inhumane conditions. That is ICE. That is the mission this proposal supports, and you should vote against it.

This cheap political stunt is unbecoming the City of Keller. It is redundant with the county’s 287(g) program. Our police department already runs a check that satisfies ICE requirements. This program will not measurably increase public safety. It will erode the trust that our police have worked very, very hard to build in the community and it is a slap in the face to those fine, underpaid and overworked officers we rely on to protect us.

Do not do this. Thank you.

Got some house cleaning done & I have a good draft of my comments for the Keller City Council when (if) they consider implementing a 287(g) program. Still, the state of things lies heavy.

From a visit to Bob Jones Nature Center in Southlake, TX last week. A herd of about 8 deer was just hanging out near where we parked. They kept eyes on us, but were mostly unperturbed by our presence. This one seemed to be in charge.

The world is on fire, from my local school district to the nation's capital & beyond. I'm hiding in my privilege these days. We're trying our hand at abstract in my photo club this month. Shooting has been a welcome diversion. Some favorites: #Photography #AbstractPhotography

I can't say enough good things about the folks at @pugetsystems.bsky.social . Needed to upgrade my GPU & wanted to replace my external RAID with internal disks. Ran into a couple of challenges that their tech support folks got me through quickly & thoroughly. Shout out to Alex, Nate, & Chris!

New video card and disk drives for my PC came today from Puget Systems. I love them. They were a great help when I ran into trouble changing some BIOS settings to enable an upgrade to Windows 11. Thought I should do that before doing any hardware upgrades. Need a bit more oomph for those Topaz apps.

Computer parts - at the back, a box containing a PNY GEFORCE RTX 4060 Ti video card. In front of that, two 12 TB Seagate Iron Wolf disk drives in shiny wrapping, with a bundle of cables secured by a rubber band in front of them.
