Having given it a few months, I've realized Bluesky, while it's a valid platform, is not for me. Hear me out, because what I have to say includes things most of you need to listen to. TL;DR incoming, but you might learn something. 1/14

So now leftists are just going to forget all about everything Carney has done - from rolling back climate regs to slyly making US military purchases - because he walked away from a predicably false deal. The left is talking like the libs and centrists. Fuck this. Grow a spine, babies.

American media - including the independent side - is ignorant about Canada. They do not understand why the latest trade talks failed, what was proposed, why it mattered, how their government follows an 11th hour insane demands playbook in other talks or what the Canadian politicians represent. 1/2

Listen, I don't know why most folks can't see the pattern but I'll lay it out for you; The Republicans - this is bigger than Trump, so stop focusing on him - want to create a hemispheric block in the Americas of compliant vassal states. 1/6

"The suggestion that Canada would not trade with other countries or reduce our trade with other countries ... would reduce us to the economic equivalent of the 51st state," Eby said. And there it is. That is not a serious request, it's an announcement of annexation. 1/2 www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Ok, I'll take that dare. The Republicans don't negotiate when the care about the outcome. Instead, they continue to pile on insane requests until the other side is forced to walk. This is how they negotiate 'peace' with Iran and it's how they discuss trade with Canada. 1/10

Hey, Libs - Trump is NOT the problem. He's a figurehead, a symbolic king. The Republicans don't make deals when they want something important to them. They pile on demands until the other side walks. Carney's economic/policy alignment wasn't enough; they want a vassal state, not a partner.

In short, they offered statehood without a vote. Even the zombie PC party the Liberals have become didn't want that. The US had no intention of anything but economic annexation. Maybe now Carney understands his gen x era Republican worldview isn't good enough for them. www.cbc.ca/news/world/l...

The US has a pattern. Negotiate but continue upping insane demands until the other side walks away. They do this in war as well as trade. If a deal is made easily, it means it was unimportant to them. Carney should now know being an economic and foreign policy ally to Republicans isn't enough.

DebunKitty @debunkitty.bsky.social · 22/08/2026
"Last-minute changes in the U.S. proposed terms were unfair, uneconomic, and called into question the reliability of any deal," Carney wrote in a statement. Well, of course. That's what they do, and it's what they've done in every negotiation that matters, from trade to war.

Hey there, Carney stans. How's it goin' today? Your dear leader has moved a step closer to his goal of an integrated North American economy and security fortress. All those pipelines that suspiciously work better to serve the US than any "diversified" market? The private trade deal with Trump? lol

Yes, and he doesn't even hide it in his public statements anymore. Too many Canadians aren't willing to accept they voted for a conservative economist aligned with the Republicans, while others decided they love how Carney provides cover for them as closet rightwingers who want to appear 'liberal'.

Go read the original post and follow up. There are receipts provided. Carney wants the same things Trump and the Republicans want, a unified North American economic and security fortress. It's the same thing investors, Doug Ford and Danelle Smith want. (Mexico probs about to be backstabbed)

DebunKitty @debunkitty.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
Exactly. Carney seemingly just made a trade deal with Trump during a private conversation between the two which he later briefed his cabinet and then the Premiers about. The Trump team is saying it will make North America an "energy powerhouse". He's a conservative aligned with Republicans.
