It had such a welcoming atmosphere, from meeting my favorite drivers to making friends across the country from all walks of life. I’ve gotten to attend the Indy 500 with 400,000 of my closest friends and realize that I am now a part of a motorsport tradition/history that goes back over a century.

I understand why so many people are going to write off Indycar because of today and I will never begrudge anyone for that. Indycar made its bed, now it must lie in it. At the same time, I’ll be watching today, because for better or worse, finding Indycar really did feel like finding a home for me.
