#BehindTheScenes: dark-matter experiments do not run by themselves. DEAP-3600 scientists take regular shifts to monitor the detector, check data quality, support calibrations and contact experts. In one recent week, the experiment spent over 91% of its operating time collecting physics data.

Update from inside the DEAP-3600. The team has just successfully deployed the dust pipe and is getting ready to the next stage of detector preparation: filling and filtering to remove dust. Many thanks to the Alberta team and everyone on site who made it happen. @ualberta.bsky.social

Behind the scenes: #DEAP3600 team members from Carleton are visiting the detector site to support hardware upgrades, including pumping out the argon dewar vacuum jacket. The overall plan is to slowly cool the acrylic vessel with injections of argon gas and prepare to deploy the dust removal system.

Neutrinos keep surprising us 👀 In their latest result, #MicroBooNE used one detector and two beams to test the idea of a fourth, “sterile” neutrino. Their data show no sign of it and rule out that model with 95% certainty. Congrats to our colleagues at @fermilab.bsky.social & MicroBooNE!
