Hamilton Council members are trying to force a loophole motion on the AI data centre interim control by-law (moratorium) tomorrow. This move is fueled by a big business & greedy government agenda. It doesn't reflect the loud & large opposition from people who actually live & work here in Hamilton.
Members of Hamilton City Council are actively working on getting a loophole amendment to the interim control by-law (moratorium) on AI data centres passed tomorrow. This move is fueled by a big business and greedy government agenda and doesn't reflect the loud and large opposition from people who actually live and work here in Hamilton. If you live in Hamilton, please consider writing in to your councillor to tell them to vote against any loopholes and to support the by-law as presented. Remind them it's an election year and that caving to lobbyist interests has consequences.

Ward 1 residents should be concerned that their councillor, Maureen Wilson, is likely to support putting a data centre in Kirkendall and we should all be very concerned that city council doesn't care about the public health and environmental costs of AI data centres. From what I've heard, this loophole effort is being spearheaded by Craig Cassar, a councillor who used to care about environmental issues in Hamilton.
