Do thoughts and prayers count? 💀

Had to use .Net 8/Blazor at work today. It's like Rails if none of the generators did anything and you had to do everything twice. And yet it's still better than most other frameworks I've used. Crazy how productive Ruby on Rails 8 makes you by comparison though.

Can't wait to go back to just using one micro blogging platform lol

Switched one of my @deanout.com game servers to OVH from Contabo because my old server was over provisioned like crazy. Had Palworld running in 5 minutes from the checkout page. Games perform amazingly now. Will probably point people towards OVH going forward, amazing service.

But also he's just a really funny guy to speak with. Hope to see all of you surfing in the code cosmos! 🌊 🏄

And let me tell you, it's one of the funniest projects I've ever worked on. But I've also learned a lot about how to fine tune a model for a specific use case. I'm still a little hesitant on AI uses, but this cleared up some questions on where they might be helpful in the business world.

I then built a Discord bot that listens on a websocket to the Python app so the bot can play the audio in real time to people in the discord call.

It then stores the response in a vector database for long-term memory and emotion retrieval, and sends the result to Elevenlabs where I've made a copy of my voice as I'm acting like a radical sailor dad from the 90s.

This weekend I built a Ruby on Rails app that controls a FastAPI Python app that captures your microphone audio, uses TTS, sends it to OpenAI, runs sentiment analysis on the output, stores it in a vector database for long-term memory and emotion retrieval.

Just added my domain name to Bluesky. Whatever that means 🤷‍♂️

I'm sorry but it might take me a bit longer to start making Ruby on Rails content again. On Monday I'm starting a new job as a Configuration Manager. I hope y'all understand, and thank you for your patience. 🫡

I swear I write code, but the bread learning arc is going so well I had to share!

Running from my problems was a huge game changer. Definitely feel off when I stop for a week.

Pushing an update to Deanout.com to support running your own LLMs. Kamal makes it so easy to push updates to Rails apps 😌

One of my biggest blockers is YML file management, I've put it off for so long I need to store templates, versions, replicate them between environments, and allow user submissions Basically I need to setup an entire YML CMS And so far I have a folder and magic strings 😂

Recaps like this are going to become almost mandatory if people continue to divide their attention between platforms. Might need to think of a way to do something similar.

Deanin @deanin.com · 15/11/2024

Made a Blue sky account for deanout.com. Still not sure how I feel about the platform, but I figured I might as well lock it in just in case lol.

The deploy times in Kamal 2 are so much faster than Kamal 1. Really cool stuff

Thinking about making YouTube Programming tutorials? Don't pay for Adobe. It's far too expensive and keeps getting worse. Instead use: - Audacity for your audio - Davinci Resolve to Edit video - OBS to record - Photopea for Thumbnails Total cost just went from $60/month to $0.

Today the one click deploy button worked for the first time on Deanout The button encapsulates the MVP for this product: I set out wanting to be able to host games for my friends with one click on my own server. To turn on/off games at will And today the deploy button did it all in one click 💪
