knowing which is which (code that solves problems vs code that creates problems), is not a coding problem. none of the above is even about "AI" necessarily, but does seem to be why everyone is yelling at each other.

it seems like if you write code for a living, you are likely to overestimate the extent to which generating more code can solve any kind of problem. conversely, if you _design_ software for a living, you are likely understand the extent to which more code creates more problems.

my worst interview judgment was meeting one of the kickstarter founders way back (more a coffee chat than interview), at a time when I commuted _everywhere_ by bicycle. sudden unexpected downpour on the bridge, then a flat front tire, then a flat back tire. arrived late, greasy, totally drenched.

I was an interviewer and hiring manager for my own and various other people's teams for over 10 years. I couldn't tell you if anyone ever showed up with a coffee because it's an inconsequential piece of information.

Tale of Sand is a 2012 graphic novel based on a screenplay written through the 60s by Jim Henson and Jerry Juhl, rendered as a graphic novel by artist Ramón K. Pérez It's a big book I pull off the shelf all the time, but never actually read it beginning to end. I just find the art style refreshing.

this is like how every new bike concept tries some pointless hubless wheels and minimal frame design, but nothing will beat the double-triangle design, because there's an objectively optimal geometry and they nailed it over a hundred years ago.
