Here’s some Lupinus rivularis in our oak Savannah that could barely be further from dying back over the winter. Even the rivularis I have in containers like the latifolius is looking similar to this. #plantscience #portland

Lupinus seem to have lots of different winter responses. I expected most of them to mostly die back at the top, and that seems like what this “latifolius” is doing. #plantscience

I saw 5 Portland Heritage Trees today. This one was the craziest looking: Elmus glabra, the Camperdown Elm. There’s 3 that are heritage trees here and they’re all clones from the same tree that sprouted in Scotland, 1850. #botany #plants

I checked to see if the surface sterilization of my root nodules worked, and lo and behold I see that I likely have four samples that still have some kind of microbial presence. Maybe the nodules got damaged… or there were too many nooks and crannies. #labwork #science #plants #microbio
