I love wandering through cemeteries—but more importantly, so does Mariana Enriquez. And as both a taphophile and a writer, she is far better equipped to share her cemetery journeys. I loved her collection SOMEBODY IS WALKING ON YOUR GRAVE. bookshop.org/a/116176/978... #deathpositive #books

On a dark gray speckled background, white and lime green text reads: "Every country is one big graveyard, and in almost all of them, sooner or later and one way or another, everything goes bad. At different times, with twists and turns. But we are here to die and (if we’re lucky!) to be buried by the living. To have a grave." - Mariana Enriquez, "Somebody is Walking on Your Grave."

If you have different beneficiaries listed on your insurance policies, retirement accounts, or similar assets, those beneficiaries will get the money from those assets, no matter what it says in your will.

Thanks to late stage capitalism, under-resourced local government offices are worried the need might be too great if the public knew they're required to cover the cost of burials when families or individuals can't.

100

My Parents Are Dead: What Now? @deadparentswhatnow.com · 01/09/2026

Some places cremate the unclaimed dead, others bury them. Responsibility for the unclaimed dead can be spread among many different government offices—though the local coroner's office is usually involved.

The fact is, funeral home bills are often a lot like hospital bills. Everything is broken down into its own individual cost—but you may not know that unless you ask for an itemized price list. Refrigeration is absolutely necessary! But other elements may not be. #deathpositive #funeral #funfact

On a dark gray background is an illustration of a white skeleton leaning against a white refrigerator. At the top, white and green text reads: Funeral Fun Fact: Refrigeration Costs Extra! Won't you feel a bit better about dying if you've made dying better for everyone?

On a gray background washed with green, white simple text and green emphatic cursive text reads: Legislation! All across the country, people are fighting for the right to dispose of their bodies how they choose, whether that’s via human composting or water cremation.
Get out there and join them! In the corners are lime green retro waves with little four-pointed stars. Below the text is a cluster of lime green, white, and black four-pointed retro stars. At the bottom is a cartoon skull with heart eyes atop a lime green heptagon.

Volunteer at your local cemetery to keep things tidy, to offer tours, to raise money, and more. Check if there’s a local “friends of” your cemetery group. In the corners are lime green retro waves with little four-pointed stars. Below the text is a lime green arrow indicating to swipe right. On a gray background washed with green, white simple text and green emphatic cursive text reads: Hospice! Dying people are still people. They need companionship!
