Makes me think about Winogrand saying “the photograph has to be more dramatic than the subject”. I don’t think that’s quite right - not everything has to be presented as “drama” I don’t think. Brohm seems interested in something else - “interest” maybe? Too vague probably.

Without getting into too much detail, my 10-year-old goes to a progressive outdoor (outdoor) day school. Last year they had to call off their drag story time because the Proud Boys threatened to show up armed. So it’s not just the guns, it’s the fascism. I know, I am stating the obvious. Be well.

Well, to be fair, knowing things is hard. I think about those two black kids in my class (and I mean whole grade) and can’t help but think they knew better and had to sit through it. That was the real lesson for them.

The southern 70’s version was straight-up lost cause in a “desegregated” school where my class had two black kids in it. The feeling among the kids was one of sadness that “we” lost. Again, this was during the patriotic explosion of 1976. This wasn’t the Deep South it was mid south Tennessee.
