Horror movie a day in October: Hollywood Hells I can only think of a handful of Hollywood-set horror films, which seems odd given the huge potential of the backdrop. Anyway—iffy title aside—this, in which an aspiring actress attends a pretty fucked up industry party, is one of the better ones. 👍

Horror movie a day in October: Round the Decay There are a few moving pieces in this film, which sometimes feels like two or three movies combined into one. Not sure any of them would be super-compelling viewing on their own, but the combined result is a refreshingly original horror story. 👍

I do think it’s funny that a couple days ago, people were whining that Trump’s name isn’t mentioned during the January 6 scene. Folks, it’s pretty clear who was being discussed. If you need a character to stand up and say “Trump did this! Trump is bad!” to appreciate the scene, that’s on you.

Horror movie a day in October: Elevator Game Elevators are lowkey creepy. You can get stuck, plummet to your death, etc. Which makes them great horror fodder. This, though, is just a mashup of tropes. And the “based on actual events” bit is somewhat tacky. Someone did (non-supernaturally) die! 👎

My go-to argument against people being bullied into giving balls to kids is this: If I catch a foul ball after years of trying, it’ll instantly become a prized possession. It represents a (tiny) bit of baseball history. I will cherish it. If I give it to a kid, he’ll be bored with it in a month.

Horror movie a day in October: Evil Dead Burn I can’t say I disliked it. But are these films building to something? Like, an Evil Dead: Endgame? It feels sorta MCU-esque: Backstory! Cameos! Post-credit scenes! Which is fine…if it leads to some sort of conclusion. Otherwise it’s just repetition. 👍

Seems like a game where having Aaron Judge would’ve helped! I don’t like the Yankees and greatly enjoy their failures. That said, they need to bite the bullet and A) Cut Stanton, and B) Tell—not ask—Judge that he’s the new DH. If he argues and wants to stay in RF, say “Cool. Give the money back.”
