Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Agree with other comments. All other reforms to repair U.S. democracy only happen with fundamental SCOTUS reform. Money in politics and the corruption it engenders can be the reason, but to spend a minute down that path without SCOTUS refounded as an objective, non-partisan body, is a wasted minute. 000
Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Running a base turnout campaign when your cultish figurehead’s popularity is falling off a cliff has to have been a known failure strategy to most pro GOP pol’s. But they did it anyway. That blithe self-fu**ing mindset will be the political legacy of the MAGA era. 000

Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Hear, hear! Sorry I missed the segment but was there a candid acknowledgement of why meaningful AI regulation is a non-starter at this time? Lots of legit, growing concern, but…serious bipartisan movement on this is a fantasy when the leadership of the gov is literally invested in rapid AI growth. 000
Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I’m continually befuddled by the MSM’s unwillingness to just report the damn facts of such stories without framing them as a critique of both sides. The GOP controls all aspects of government and are slavishly captured by their dear leader’s whims. How can any Fed Gov failure not be on them? 000

Thanks for providing it if you can! 010
Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 01/08/2026If you dig into the campaign lit., the linchpin of this claim is funding from and endorsement by DMFI PAC. Which Stevens has as well. It’s not AIPAC but they coordinate outside spending and share donors, etc. “Israel First” clearly crosses a line. That’s not even coded. But DMFI isn’t “nothing.” 100

Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 20/07/2026This is that thing where you misstate everything in a simplistic, nonsense way so no factual info is addressed, then draw a dumb conclusion from it, emphatically. What’s the point? Why waste everyone’s time? 100
Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 20/07/2026It was an ill-conceived call to action by activists, not a candidate’s campaign slogan. It was a demand of the most outspoken side of the Black Lives Matter movement post-George Floyd. Though it was undefined and practically impossible, it was used as both a test and a cudgel against candidates. 110
Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 19/07/2026His unwillingness to force this issue to a decisive conclusion and leverage it to expose the political corruption he’s supposedly fighting is maddening, and reduces his viability moving forward. Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Was he really a great, transcendent leader deserving to now be eulogized as a tragic figure? Like many Republicans of his era, he seems like a talented tool who swung with the wind, posturing as the politics required, but basically unmoored from any great mission or morality. Then Trump appeared. 121

Joseph Finneran @dcprogress.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Folks who think “Defund The Police” was politically stupid aren’t (necessarily) opposed to racial justice. Insisting they are only proves one is lost in a dim, self-righteous bubble. Reversing endemic, institutional racism in a country this big and complex is hard. Seeing how dumb this was is not. 030
