Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Look i did like IBO but i worry if you are foisting too much hope on it lol it's like the most joyless gundam series. Not bad, just joyless. Also bc it is gundam it has Interesting Ideas About Women but in a totally unique IBO way 000

Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 02/09/2026an absolutely incomparable visual nightmare that is absolutely worth watching but alas it also scores very highly on the Hong Kong Movie Chicken Brutalization Index 050
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 25/08/2026there is a CURRENTLY SUPPORTED version of Heroes 3 out now, this industry-wide obsession with remakes is insane. Even if the trailer didn't look like AI smeared doo doo, Horn of the Abyss looks and sounds better and probably has more content. 100
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 16/08/2026it's always funny when something deploys the visual language of the subject being deceased when they actually aren't 040
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Oh my god I think it is. Actress Ayako Sawada making the doubt face from LA Noire while eating the challenger's dish is maybe the funniest fucking thing I've ever seen 021
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 15/08/2026i forget the exact episode but you gotta post when you get to it. it's incredible 110
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 15/08/2026the most Real moment of that show was when they invited a buddhist abbot as the challenger and he cooked a bunch of almost completely flavourless food and everyone (except one younger actress) had to politely talk around it. it may also be the single greatest moment of television in history 2130

Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 14/08/2026It's not saying much but I will say the swastikas have decreased precipitously since launch. They're not totally gone but thankfully I see trans flags more often nowadays 020
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 14/08/2026It's a true unicorn game. Once it's gone there's going to be nothing like it. I've long thought Games Workshop should contract out the studio and slap their name on a sequel. We're talking peanut butter and chocolate here 000
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Of course, people will say that Cadfael being an ex-crusader is an essential part to his history+context within Shrewsbury. It's a reasonable complaint. But being a little daring is a virtue of a good reboot. As one once said, sometimes it's good to mix the sand of doubt into the oyster of faith... 000
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 12/08/2026If you wanted to go younger (and this is probably my pick), I think Riz Ahmed would be an incredible choice not just for his warmth and intellect but also how you could weave an interesting new interpretation to Cadfael's history of fighting in the Crusades. Fought in, *but was not* a Crusader... 110
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 12/08/2026If you wanted to aim older, I think Charles Dance would be a excellent Cadfael that leans slightly more on the implication of vengeance or the threatening power of his intellect (buoying on his established rep as Tywin) 110
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Derek Jacobi's particular Cadfael is pretty much unassailable so I feel chasing after an actor to imitate it is doomed to failure tbh. The best reboot would probably have an actor bringing a different energy to the role that interprets the original Partiger books in a novel but complementary way 120

Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 23/07/2026I often hear that DaVinci Resolve is a good choice for video editing! Most folks I know have stopped using Adobe products for a variety of reasons, mainly because free / open-source alternatives are becoming more professional, and also because Adobe product support is become more unreliable. 110

Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 26/06/2026I think I bumped mine up to 3 stars only because Christopher Lloyd is kind of a foundational klingon and also because unfortunately the Bird Of Prey is an all timer spaceship design. most of the time when someone is talking about a spaceship it is not as cool as a klingon bird of prey 000

Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 10/06/2026I have no doubt the new Ocarina will also have great music that has a lot of work put into it, but I fear it's going be defined by a desire to sound like John Williams, or Hans Zimmer, or Howard Shore. That's just the direction remakes are going in, I guess. I'm probably being too grumpy about it 🙃🙄 100
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 10/06/2026It broke my heart hearing the new Star Fox imitate music cues from Star Wars... After watching the announcement trailer, I listened to the original Star Fox soundtrack again and was once again impressed by the brilliance of Hajime Hirasawa's work. It's really amazing work... There's nothing like it! 120
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 10/06/2026It's not that even that I dislike movies! I love the medium of film and try to take them as seriously as possible! (letterboxd.com/Lifestrike/). I just feel like the hardware constraint influenced art style is an inseparable part of Ocarina's charm. When it's replaced, something is lost. 110
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 10/06/2026My guess is that it's probably meant to tie-in with the upcoming Zelda movie. The subtle changes that will be made to the story are likely meant to make it less strange, and the new graphical style feels like it's intended to feel as familiar to movie-going audiences as possible. Sad... 100
Lifestrike @dconquist.bsky.social · 10/06/2026It's concerning! The original already exists and is available for purchase in a nearly perfect form, but for some reason we're getting a new one that feels like it's trying to obtain a sense of legitimacy by mimicking modern Hollywood movies (like the new Star Fox). It's trend I truly hate! 100
