#Ambulance reality TV shows have become so normalised that I’m not sure we stop often enough to ask a fairly basic question: should a film; crew be present during #paramedic care at all? My latest post outlines why I think that answer is a resounding no

Not straying too far from the last post on "saving #ambulances for emergencies" my latest post is all about so-called "inappropriate" #emergency presentations TLDR: There's no such thing as an "inappropriate" presentation, just an inappropriately designed health system #paramedicine #fixhealthcare

As many of you know I’ve been fairly vocal about “save #ambulances for #emergencies” campaigns over the years. Well it appears they're back and so is my criticism of them. My greatest concern is and always has been that they might actually work. Read the latest post below

In case you missed it, I released a new post on The Paramedic Academic over the weekend. This piece explores what #advocacy means in #paramedicine and where I think our #profession should be heading in this space. You can read the full post using the link below.

#Paramedics are trusted with extraordinary access to people’s lives. That trust brings influence and a responsibility to use it well. My latest post on @paramedicacademic.bsky.social considers whether advocacy is part of professional paramedic practice, rather than an optional extra.

I’m excited to launch The Paramedic Academic. My first post explains why I created it: a space for evidence-informed discussion on paramedicine, emergency systems, rural health and health equity... of course with room for the occasional long-winded rant @paramedicacademic.bsky.social

Why The Paramedic Academic?
Paramedicine sits in an important, changing and sometimes difficult space. It is a relatively new profession and in Australia at least, a rapidly increasing and maturing discipline. As we see this …

On a #professional level, this both enrages and concerns me beyond words On a personal level, I don't think I've ever been so #ashamed to be a Kiwi This move will damage health outcomes and public trust in #Aotearoa for years to come #politics #overreach #MedSky #CulturalSafety #DoBetter

I'm starting to notice an increasing anti-AI sentiment on several social media platforms lately, particularly related to its use in healthcare. I suspect this might be an algorithm thing, more than a reflection of significant change in public sentiment. 1/2

Community banding together to fundraise for essential equipment is admirable but this raises a very big question. Why should regional communities have to do this? The WA state govt proudly spends less per capita on ambulance services than any other state in Australia. 1/2

24 hours here and so far I'm very happy. I'm even quickly finding all my previous Twitter connections. There's just one problem. What are we calling a post here? Surely it's not a Tweet, but I've also just googled some alternatives and learnt some slang I really could have lived without...
