I've got to give them credit for clapping when the lady came out with Anne Carson written on a board. I feel their disappointment, but they're hardly sore losers.

Reading to my child is one of the most enjoyable parts of being a parent. I love it!

I said beside the point because the main issue is that he's trying to shirk childcare. But I was also pointing out that his proposed "solution" doesn't replace the work he's supposed to be doing.

This is beside the point, but reading to the baby isn't just about them hearing the sound of your voice. It's about interacting with the baby, creating bonds, pointing to images, and associating words with things they represent.

You've got to give Rachel Leigh Cook credit here. "I learned it from watching you" is superb and easily applicable in real life, but her performance has seared the This Is Your Brain on Drugs PSA into the minds of a generation.

I wonder if we'll get round the clock coverage of this like we did with Claudine Gay's supposed plagiarism?

And if you keep on fooling and ripping off a bunch of people, then eventually you just no longer respect or care what happens to them.

I knew this series was done for when the last film didn't even include Katie.

In defense of Dems, taking an extremely popular and morally correct opinion would be unfair to Republicans.

I haven't followed Blizzard in a long time, so I genuinely thought you were joking about the new game not coming out this decade.

Ever since she was three, my daughter has thought that Darth Maul is the absolute coolest. She's now nine and has never seen the prequels, but her uncle got her a Darth Maul action figure six years ago. Incredible character design.

Took my nine year old to Coyote vs Acme. But don't worry. I gave her an hour long lecture beforehand on torts and supposed "tort reform."

Whenever a famous poet dies, poetry readers always post something like, "Yes, he was a mediocrity, but I found a few of his poems scanned reasonably well, and I suppose I can't completely discount his contributions to the form."

Going through Fleetwood Mac's discography, and it's absolutely insane that Stevie Nicks doesn't show up until ten albums into their existence. They have such a weird and wild evolution as a band.

I'm actually not so sure the people who condemn "woke" have all that different of a definition. For many of them, they simply hate the idea of recognizing racial and class inequality as systemic.

As a writing instructor, I instituted labor based grading long before AI became an issue in the classroom, but I can't emphasize enough how much that approach has helped me navigate the AI explosion in recent years.

I loved this show, and I enjoy revisiting episodes, but I just don't see how it survives into the 21st century. It's such a product of its time.

People who talk about AI in higher ed classrooms as a pedagogical rather than resourcing problem may be well-meaning but naive, but I also suspect a segment insists on treating it as a primarily pedagogical issue to avoid drawing attention to systemic underresourcing.

Working class Midwesterners are "real Americans" until they don't go along with dictates of billionaires, and then they're very quickly knuckle dragging morons.

This just seemed like the obvious result immediately. Of course, you need research to back it up, but anyone not already dazzled by AI could see this coming.

This is sometimes how I think about professors who incorporate AI into their classroom. Sure, they're doing their students a disservice, but at least they're giving me some cover so that I can actually teach my students something worthwhile.

If the Bible is properly taught, it likely would upset evangelicals the most. It's probably not worth the trouble, and I remember reading a long time ago that optional Bible classes in high school fail even in conservative areas because there's not enough interest.

Beard budgets have become increasingly meager over the years, and, well, when you divide that by four films, you're really looking at a pittance.

I teach information literacy to students, and one thing I tell them when it comes to assessing a reliable source is to start with facts and not "objectivity" or "bias." The problem with Fox News isn't that it's conservative. The problem is that it lies to its viewers.

I'm just now discovering that there are four books in the Practical Magic series, and the fourth book, originally titled The Book of Magic, has been rechristened Practical Magic 2 in order to take advantage of the new movie. This sounds absolutely insane to me.

It's interesting how media only perks up when these tech dangers are from abroad, but seem asleep at the wheel when they're domestic. Is China shaping AI outputs any more concerning than what has happened with Grok?

If I were a billionaire, I always thought a fun project would be to pay liberals to move to Wyoming. If you could get 150k committed voting age liberals to move into the state, then all of a sudden it leans left.
